With the 20 million-size coal patches you find on Vulcanus, big mining drills (especially once you have them of higher quality), plus plastic productivity, plus general productivity moduling, I really don't think it makes sense to import plastic. Of course, it can be done in many ways, and it's fine for people to solve Factorio however they want. Just not what I'd do, I guess.

That's what has sort of confused me. You have large coal and calcite deposits already on the planet. To me it seemed natural to go coal liquification after I got the tech. That said Gleba does make plastic at higher quantities due to the basic productivity bonus on the biochambers before any modules.

Yesterday i made a 40/min speed module 3 in vulcanus. I was following you last video and say "i have the circuits, lets make modules"
@submachinegun5737
@submachinegun5737 Ай бұрын
I’ve been thinking that with the large size of scrap deposits, you could probably still make huge amounts of all circuits on fulgora by making a separate factory that uses all of the recycled copper iron and plastic and also turns that into more circuits
@Erik_Ice_Fang
@Erik_Ice_Fang Ай бұрын
There is never enough plastic on Fulgora if you are also making modules. Using more plastic on circuits directly competes with the superconductors and rocket launches as well. Unless you are willing to store/sacrifice huge amounts of holmium, which I would imagine most people wont be willing to do
@submachinegun5737
@submachinegun5737 Ай бұрын
@ Since scrap is so abundant, I’m setting this up as a separate factory dedicated to circuits after building my main factory, and don’t care about throwing away extra holmium steel or the large amount of iron from the gears. There are so many small islands with millions of scrap that are relatively easy to set up mining outposts on and to ship it around with trains, so wasting resources from scrap is not an issue tbh

My concern with space trade is that your factory is ultimately constrained by how much product you can expel from a landing pad
@submachinegun5737
@submachinegun5737 Ай бұрын
So you need at least one space for a cargo bay attached to the pad, which can then snake off into a large amount of cargo bays to accept more landing pods, but otherwise you can fit 8 stack inserters on each side, 8+8+8+4 (for the one side that has a cargo bay attached) for a total of 28. Especially since you can also get legendary inserters to buff the speed, it seems like landing pad throughput is absurdly upgradeable
@jokcho5
@jokcho5 Ай бұрын
@@submachinegun5737 well you need 2 inserters minimum to saturate a belt. that already limits you to 14 belts. i dont know if 2 legendary stack inserters can saturate a belt. so that can be less than 14 already. so the maximum non-stacked belts you can get is 56. thats not much for a true interplanetary scale. they should just allow taking out of extensions. i dont kow why they imposed such a limitation.
@ShadoFXPerino
@ShadoFXPerino Ай бұрын
@submachinegun5737 i know that, but it's still all situated in one location. You'll need to get X number of trains max in there to get the plastic out, and then that's the max number of plastic you'll have for the entire planet.
@submachinegun5737
@submachinegun5737 Ай бұрын
@@jokcho5 Because extensions can snake anywhere, this completely breaks the game if you can take out of them, since they could then teleport items anywhere across the factory. Anyway with legendary stack inserters, it’s still absurdly fast, remember these are not 1.0 blue belts these are 240 item/s stacked green belts
@dimavolkov8793
@dimavolkov8793 Ай бұрын
@submachinegun5737 then they should allow building multiple landing pad for planet. This kind of limitation is unreasonable. Right now there are serious limitations to building mega factory. One can export as much as they want, but not import. What the point?

I think the stack inserters have a problem with split belts, but I am not sure. Because I assume they wait until they are full to insert and I wonder if there's a situation where the machine is already full of green circuits but missing plastic and, stack inserter already grabbed plastic then don't insert any more items.

it's a 4 car train every 80 seconds, roughly a rocket launch from gleba every 10 seconds to keep this going. not too terrible with a good plastic setup on gleba, a ship hauling an absolutely atrocious amount of plastic between the two isn't hard, just some basic guns needed and you can slap all the engines on that. if all you're producing is zoom juice and ammo, you could just go nuts on storage, haul 20 rockets worth if you'd like. have a second ship getting loaded while the first is getting unloaded. doable. silly with coal and calcite and sulfuric acid on vulcanus but whatever, it would certainly look cool launching that many rockets

Last night I solved my massive lockup where I switched to foundries on Nauvis to resolve my iron/copper shortage, but then I had one tile of my calcite belt out of roboport range not built so I stopped getting calcite in and had no iron or copper grinding everything to a halt. Meanwhile Gleba was dead having run out of spoilage. And Volcanus was relying on Nauvis and Gleba to supply Rocket fuel to export things at any useful speed so when I fixed the calcite it took forever for Volcanus rockets to launch and apparently had no chemical plant production to expand rocket fuel. I realized after that I have no idea why Fulgora wasn't supplying rocket fuel. I set it up to do so and then forgot about it.
