Thank you for this video! I'm a massage therapist with 18 years experience but just a few hundred hours of education who has always steered clear of psoas work because I was afraid of it. Unlike everything else I learned in school, I wasn't able to feel the muscle and understand what I was doing. Plus, there are a lot of nerves and major vessels in the area that my teachers and the internet never seemed to address. While another video did a slightly better job of teaching me to find it, yours really helped me to feel more comfortable with the work by telling me what where and how things could go wrong and how to engage with it safely. No one else is putting that vital information in their videos even though rule number ONE is "don't break the client". I finally feel like I can play around in the area, thanks to you and the specific information you alone seem to be providing.

Your rate and rhythm at which you move is super ideal for a comfortable yet effective massage. I find a lot of Massage Therapists move too quickly with their hands and its very pokey or way too light…your pressure seems like it’s perfect!

LOVE this channel. Probably the BEST new massage channel out there! I have a request: Could you show illiopsoas and serratus massage on clients who are ticklish? I know these areas need to be worked, even if a client is ticklish and has to laugh through it, but there are NO professional videos ANYWHERE on the internet that demonstrate work on sensitive clients. And I'm not even talking about avoiding ticklishness necessarily (because I know sometimes that's impossible!) but it'd be great to see some professional videos of a therapist working through a client's laughter. I know it occurs because I've come across it many times in real life, but it's rarely rarely addressed on massage channels (If they do they just say "this area might be ticklish" but the videos never, ever demonstrate it on actual, ticklish clients.) Thank you in advance!
@RebelMassage8 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I think making a video on how to work with ticklish clients is a great idea. I will plan on it in the future definitely. In the meantime, my rule of thumb about working in ticklish areas is to work slower, use a broader point of contact (like a palm instead of a pointy thumb or finger), and hold the area consistently as your clients becomes comfortable with receiving the work. Thanks for the suggestion. And your support!

Cris Lem I’ve used forearm work cautiously with tickalish clients quite sseccessfully doing similar methods above, but instead of the knee being raised i keep the leg flat and get them to cough to distinguish that I have the right muscle. Hope that helps.

Fantastic. I am a massage therapist going thru rehab after an injury. I have a severely tight psoas and illiacus as a result of my hip contracting to protect an injured knee and the other hip overworking to take all the weight for 4 months. I have been teaching these moves to coworkers so they can help me. For the psoas, I love the sinking in while the client lifts the leg and then as they release sinking deeper. Really effective. I LOVE the working the illiacus by crossing the leg over and stabilizing the knee in the abdomen/hip area. Wow! Also incredibly effective. I have yet to try the next moves in video. I'm looking forward to it.

Excellent video love!! I needed some extra advice on how to manipulate the iliacus as I saw improvement working on the psoas. I've been working with my client to help him avoid surgery. He has anterior stenosis of L3 and L4. I've been treating him for about 2 years and have cleared out all the knots in his back ans posterior hips. And discovered how the iliopsoas keeps yanking him back into his chronic pain. He's been an oral surgeon for 40 years. I told him he needs to cut back his hours since his job is the possible source of his condition. He plans on it in spring so here's to natural recovery and no surgery! This video will truly boost his experience and outcome of treating his condition with massage. Poor guy, he's been seeing doctors for 8 years to try Ann's help him. Massage has been the only thing to allow him to be pain free for several days and play tennis. His favorite activity. Great job!! Keep up the good work! Please thank your lovely volunteer for me!! The world needs more real people that are genuinely beautiful! I loved your sweet comment about the bravery and effort involved with being a mother. So overlooked by many. Women are so strong we need to be reminded. Thanks for doing that for us. 😍💓😇

They ended up pressing down really hard and by the time i could react and tell them to ease up they were already moving on. it lasted for about 3-5 seconds. it's been 1 week now and I'm still feeling soreness and pain/discomfort in that exact area in the groin/pelvic. getting a bit concerned as it was mentioned its a sensitive area in the vid...any insight or advice or even some assurance would be much appreciated!!
