Mass Appeal

Күн бұрын

"Yeah, I'm a SoundCloud rapper!" said Pouya during a recent visit to MASS APPEAL HQ. "Look at my watch! SoundCloud got me this watch… I got this from SoundCloud money. And why not? SoundCloud rappers are better than mainstream rappers anyway. I'd rather listen to SoundCloud rappers all day. Me, Suicide Boys, Lil Xan-all the top rappers are SoundCloud rappers." In the latest episode of Open Space, the pioneering Florida rapper born Kevin Pouya-who recently released the album 'Five Five,' named after his height-breaks down his come-up from skating to hosting an internet show with his homie Fat Nick to shooting rap videos for the Denzel Curry to dropping out of school and spitting bars inspired by Bone Thugs and SpaceghostPurpp. Pouya also speaks on why he turned down a major deal, why he never records in professional studios, and how music has helped him handle his lifelong battle with anxiety in the new edition of Open Space.

Jordan Reid how so? I lose respect, and so do fans. its a desperate move (in the eyes of hip-hop fans, and atleast underground fans of people like pouya, suicideboys, etc.) You lose the appearance of authenticity because you are no longer an entrepreneur, you are an employee.
@tacoma81
@tacoma81 6 жыл бұрын
Its because being independent allows you to have full control over your music and when you sign to a label you lose all aspect of that because labels want you to be appealing in a way that'll generate money for them. I don't blame him at all lol at all these sellouts that sign and how their music ends up destroyed.

Nah you're trippin he doesn't do any drugs. Listen to Torch, many verses on his new album imply him telling the kids to get off drugs, on his No Jumper interview he also talks about not doing drugs and not even talking prescriptions doctors would give him for anxiety. Hes just skinny he always has been. You should watch both of his No Jumper interviews he talks about suing vice for defamation of character and how they staged the whole thing.

I love that Pouya doesn’t realize how strong of a following he has. And in that I mean he’s so humble he doesn’t realize how hard he’s killing so much of this mainstream shit while still being like mainstream in the underground world you know? So much respect for you Pouya. You stop making music and I’m making a army and we coming to your house and throwing you in a small studio. You inspire all your fans to give less fucks and do what they feel. That’s more than teachers are doing these days. Thank you.

Exactly! That last part of what you said is so goddamn accurate!! If you really think about it, the only thing that teachers are teaching us is how to remember things! Lol but Pouya (and other underground rappers) on the other hand are talking about the real shit in life!
