Cathleen from Coz Creations mentions you guys in many of her videos and asks us to check you out. Ive been at this for over a year and burned through thousands of dollars creating a studio and gathering supplies. Ive been thinking about selling the contents of the studio and giving up.. Ive been listening and watching your videos for about a week now and I find myself with a renewed sense of freedom to be okay with my work and keep trying. I owe Cathleen a big thank you.. and i want you to know you two are helping people like me so much. All the artist here are wonderful but I understand your message clearly. Im not anyone special just another artist finding her place... Thanks guys

Firstly Cathleen is wonderful, just plain amazing and one of the best artists and people we know!! Secondly … wow!! Thank you so much for being here and watching and for ‘getting us’!! We really really hope that we can inspire you just a little to keep going and to give it a try! We show the good the bad and the ugly and try and say that it’s a journey, and invite you on ours! Please please show us anything you create, we would love to see it, and we hope you start to really love your journey here with us. Thank you Lauren. ❤️

Artists, entertainers, and teachers! What don't you do? (Dishes, maybe) So much of this rings true for my journey as I spend hours watching folks pour on KZbin. A couple things I can add for beginners is that I started with cheap craft paint and a huge jug of white (pva) glue from Michael's. The pouring medium was a glue and water mixture. I bought 2 large orders of canvas panels to pour on while I figured stuff out. I'm tickled to say that today, I broke open the piggy bank to buy some Australian Floetrol! Keep doing Art and inspiring others!!!!

Hi guys. I love you. I am doing as you said and I have watched hundreds of videos by so many different people and it just gets to be to much. I have been watching painting with a lady that goes by Coz and she is lovely and so much of what she says you also say. Between you and her I feel so much better about taking on the painting world. I am new and have just been using paint and water only. Between you and Coz I am convinced to use your techniques. I am going to be taking a video class with Coz and am looking forward to it. I had to go get my floetrol today and some Gac 800. I love to do swipes and I have learned to much from the both of you that my swipes will only be better from now on. Just wanted to drop you and not and let you know you have a new fan and so look forward to watching your videos. See you on the next video, John from Chicago

I’m almost three years into my paint pouring journey. I’ve sold plenty and have a little side business. I can’t say enough about how helpful journaling was in my learning. I still number every piece and document what I put into each numbered piece. I write the date and size of canvas/board, the technique used. I document my base color and mix, and the pouring colors, dry time, varnish used, and now I’m documenting the humidity percent of the room when I started drying the painting in because I’m trying to figure at what point certain bases crack or craze. I also use my journal to write the prices I will sell and the date they sold. OCD? Yes. But I’m learning so much in the process.

Where were you when I started this journey a year ago! Lots of good information and the demo on mixing the paints is priceless. I've wasted more paint in the beginning because my consistencies weren't the same. One note about calculating how much paint you will need. One of the artist I follow (sorry I don't remember who said this) said to follow that recipe if you are pouring on a dry canvas--no flow extender. However, if you lay down flow extender you should consider 30% for flow extender and 70% for your cup. For instance for a 12 x 12 canvas, instead of using 5.2 ounces, I use 3.6 ounces. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and your videos are lots of fun! Deb in Vermont

Thanks guys, so many great pointers! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you truly are an inspiration! I started pouring earlier this year, and was very tentative (I’m a teaching artist, but more into fibers and textiles, with mixed media thrown in) so painting has been a new art form for me. Well, I probably did about 1/2 a dozen pour paintings last spring, then fizzled out for a bit.... wanted to try new techniques, but wasn’t quite ready. Enter Masse Art Studio, and bam! I dove in! I’ve been doing 2-3 paintings a day, and looking for new substrates to paint besides canvases too. I did a couple wine bottles, a vintage wooden recipe box, and a cigar box. I’m hooked! You inspire me to try new techniques and materials, Thank You! I’m sure I’m not alone in my appreciation for you both sharing your talent and joy here on your page.

@MasseArtStudio4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Melissa. Whats your recipe for Glue and water say ... if I wanted to mix 2oz of paint?
@melissaphillis72474 жыл бұрын
@@MasseArtStudio oh! Well, first it's 60% glue to 40% water...then okay, 2 oz of paint is 60ml here....depending on the thickness of the paint (I use mont marte as I have an artist's account and can buy in 2L containers, and it's very thick paint) 15ml paint to 45ml pouring medium for thin paint, 1:1 for ring pours etc so 30ml to 30ml or 1oz to 1oz. 😁 (floetrol is $56 for 4 litres here in Australia, just not financially viable for me, and 1 gallon or 3.78litres of Elmer's school glue is $28 which you then almost water down by half....much cheaper). Well.....you did ask 🤣🤣 it was a bit tricky to answer at first because I mix up 500ml of each colour when I mix and store in soft drink (soda bottles.)

Hey, guys👋🏼 I am relatively new to this medium, and painting in general, so like you I have watched countless videos. I also enjoy watching “How To” videos by my favorite artists. Combined, they give me a solid base to build upon and help me in finding my own path. One thing I do is take notes from the different tutorials so I have that information easily accessible. Now I will have “Masse Notes” as well🙂 I also watch videos with pen and paper and pause to write down a nugget of wisdom the artist has shared. I find these to be very helpful. I agree that keeping a journal is really important. I got a little lazy and now I don’t recall some of the colors I used in some of the pours I like. For me I think your greatest piece of advice is to “Have fun!” To be less concerned about getting things “right” or “perfect” and to enjoy the process, the creativity, and if I’m lucky the end result. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with us. Be happy and be well!

Very nice. Something critical is reading the paint labels! I've wasted paint because I did not realize I was using translucent and opaque in the same pour. The labels show if it's opaque/semi opaque/ or translucent. Since I started paying attention when picking colors, it has saved me a lot of frustration.

Great tip! We didn't think to mention that but that's a really great tip. Thank you!

Can’t translucent and opaque be used in the same pour? Thanks
@janebrownell68283 жыл бұрын
@@frismo1 Hi. It's been my experience that if I use both translucent and opaque together, the opaque swallows up the translucent. However, if you put opaque first, then translucent on top of it, that might work out better. Hope this helps.

I think you just simplified my life! There are so many recipes out there, but if you guys just use 2 & get the results you do, I'd be fine with that. Happy New Year!

Thanks guys for all the great info. I guess I need to get a scale think that's why I'm having some trouble with my consistency.

To start with until you get used to the consistency I would suggest it. We still do! :-)
