Changing the method of checking and filling the gearbox oil from something quite tricky to something a bit more user friendly.

There is some on the joints in the pipe, but the end that is screwed into the gearbox is tapered, and the plug didn't have any, so far it's not leaking.

Short but sweet!! Do you use 90 gear oil or is universal 30 sufficient? Have you MF training or have you picked it up as you go along. Thanks again

Its universal oil, 90 would be too thick as it also supplies the steering and multi power circuits. I'm not trained in anything, just pick it up from books and having a go!

why don't you turn the tractor so you can get in better

Because it's not safe to rely on a hydraulic ram to keep the tractor turned while you're working in that area. There are mounting points for a safety bar to keep the tractor in a straight ahead position while you're working on it.
