Joseph Citizen419 it's there to show that the stationary knives are spring loaded and capable of letting a rock or other debris through with minimal damage to the knives

Seems like it would be easy for small creature to get caught up in. Anyone ever opened up a bale and found a chopped up corpse of a mouse or snake or something else?

I never had that problem but i have baled up a couple of snakes before with a small baler

As a Dutch Firefighter i had one case where a farmer decided to stick his arm inside the pick up and got caught up! It broke and damaged his arm pretty good. Not a nice sight to see. But he is still farming with one arm instead of 2!
