Massey Harris 33 Sediment Bowl

Replaced the Sediment Bowl filter on my Massey Harris 33.

I purchased a sediment bowl off eBay 3 years ago, and used it to rebuild the one on a 1951 AirMan motorcycle made in LaCrosse, WI. It used a Lauson 2-3/4 HP engine. I wanted to keep the original patina and glass but the needle valve and brass screen were exactly the same. Good to keep these machines running, especially if you know the engine is not to worn out. I bet you use it for snow removal with that engine block tank heater on it. I just threw out tw0 of them I hauled from Grand Forks, ND back in 1984, to Cedar Rapids, IA, as they are not a thing here, this is 50 miles south of the permanent snow line. It's nice to live in the 'tropics'.

I figure if the engine didnt wear out in the 20 years BEFORE I had it, and hasn't worn out in the 45 years since, then it has a good chance of lasting another 25-35 years. And thats probably long enough to outlast me.

Dang...something new for the Massey !! I wonder where to get the rubbers that go in the fuel connections...any idea ?? I usually end up changing to a flare or compression fitting because I can't locate them. Good job with the sediment bowl and hose. I usually cut off the springy wire. But as you show, it doesn't matter.

Hey thanks tractorman44. Well I'm hopeful that the fuel lines will stay intact the way they are. Slowly trying to make little improvements here and there on the old girl.

@@ThoenWorks It takes time for sure. I've got a 33 back in the woods I need to get into the shed one of these days. Manifold is eaten away bad and I have it covered. Hopefully the motor isn't stuck yet. 33's are very hard to find engine parts for.

I would seen if the old gas bowl would've cleaned up if see if U could've used the new bowl w the old most likely a different size 😮😮 U have done put a new bowl assembly on now its better than what it was U have a clean and clear gas bowl U can see through 2 see any trash or water I would still a long neck funnel and a old shirt 2 strain the gas it will catch the trash and water 😊😊 OMG 2 14 2O24
