That is called heat bonding and is used for boosting the power of bonding tape and some rubber type glues. But that would mean the paper has glue on it? I have seen this work on some plastics as well. Maybe there is a thin layer of plastic on the back of the sanding paper?
@ThoenWorks
@ThoenWorks Ай бұрын
Not all sandpapers have this layer, but the particular 3m ones I have do. Not sure if their intention was bonding or simply to have the right CoF (friction). Regardless, very handy for bonding by thermal lamination.

Alas, I would have contacted the expert, but didn't have your number. A bonus would be having your expertise to tell me what I want....since you apparently know what I want even though it's likely we've never met. That's genius.

This is very good info!.. thank you for taking time to show!.. I have a 572 1985 also, and it had lots of wiring cut and missing!.. as if someone needed wires!.. I still am wondering about the connection of the igniter coil on the top of intake manifold..+ the two relays that are to the right from that igniter.. they are one behind another!.. Can you take a picture of what wires colours are there?.. please!..

Hello! You need to close the air supply to the engine, when the engine starts turning well, then give gas. Where the steering lift is adjusted, there is a lever next to it for blocking air to the engine.

Thanks for the review. I just ordered the same exact saw this evening from Acme Tools. They had it on sale for $2199. I found a written review about the PM1000 from Popular Woodworking online, and they also had an issue with the motor not cutting through the first few cuts. They called Powermatic who advised to tension the v-belt . That fix gave it all the power it needed. So maybe try that...

Maybe the “bent” riving knife is for non thru cuts ? Incra and Jessem are the best miter gauges. I was pretty surprised by the bogging down, I went with the 3 hp unisaw, new style with both wheels in front, love it never bogged it down.

We absolutely could not get our pump pulled from the casing. There was no cable, just the electric wires. We tried something new, and it worked perfectly. We used a T-bar as you suggested, We set a log upright on each side of the casing. Next we put our car jacks on the logs and up against the bottom of the T-bar handles. We raised the jacks up together against the T-bar handle and that was powerful enough to pull the pipe up from the casing. We followed your advice about carefully holding on to the pipe and wires as we pulled all 75' of pipe and the pump up out of the casing. Yahoo! Success! I wish I could share the pictures/short video here for others.

We had a massive Massey 44 with the steering box in the same condition we had to drill drip through down through and put longer bolts the wet outside on the upright post to hold it in place. Very poor set up hard steering tractor.

the PM 1000 is a 1.75 hp motor. mine brand new wouldn't cut a 2x4 without tripping the thermal switch. I tried everything with no success. Finally made the company I bought it from get me a new motor. That did the trick. I can cut anything with it now without it shutting off. Also, why would you use the miter gauge without the handle locked down? I just set mine on 90 degrees from the blade and leave it. Although I don't cut a lot of odd angles with mine.

I am looking for some sawmill build ideas? I love your mill, can you explain your bearing setup that the carriage rides on?
@ThoenWorks
@ThoenWorks 8 ай бұрын
Bearing setup for carriage is basically from forklift rails. I only did it that way because it was what I had available at the time (I am cheap). Would not do it the same again. Should be V-groove wheels riding on a rail.

Keep in mind, this is now 8 years ago for me and memory is wearing thin. You need to make a mark to keep track of the orientation of the adapter when you pull it apart. It kind of snaps back in place itself, but definitely takes finesse to get things lined up.
