The battle was amazing, an hour long grind for both sides. Nonstop fighting with little bugs or microbe problems. Apollo, you did some great commentary throughout the battle and you got us some great camera angles.

I think another key factor for the defenders was that long road the Holy Roman Empire had to cross. They couldnt get through the defenders for a while there and the archers were able to just slaughter that for several minutes.

If the HRE had committed more troops to breaking through the centre then they could've have been able to dislodge those crossbows earlier than what they managed in reality.

The French actually have a history of meeting each-other on the battlefield. The Spanish civil war saw two French regiments on either side. They fought each-other and then held a collective funeral.

My fantasy theory about this battle is that the County of Toulouse rebelled against the Kingdom of France and France called in their imperial allies of Portugal and the Holy Roman Empire, and the HRE also called in the Teutonic Order to deal with the rebelling heathens who have "betrayed the church". Meanwhile, Toulouse has called in help from the Italian states, with Sicily answering the call along with Italian crusaders who just got back from the Holy Land......Far fetched, but that is my theory for this.

Kinda feel like if the holy roman empire player didn't try even a little to go on that bottom path he wouldn't have lost all his men to those crossbowmen.
