That’s going to be an excellent build! I’m looking forward to it. I remember the first time I got a 21”, and put it right next to an 8 inch passive radiator and thought holy cow!!!! This thing is huge!!! a few weeks later I got a 15 inch in and I honestly thought that it was the wrong size. A 15 inch just looks small now. 😂

It’s pretty cool seeing Eminence, an American company, building drivers that can compete with anyone in the world. I remember my first Eminence woofers were 12” guitar speakers with square magnets and cost about $20.00 each. That was in the mid 1960’s.

How big are your boxes? Ported or sealed? What type of pro drivers? I have 18” B&C pro drivers in ported boxes tuned to about 14hz and I get very strong sub 30hz bass.

Bass here we come. This is a very power hungry sub you need some strong amps to run it. Are you still using your sinbosen amps. Just a suggestion if you need more power check out cvr amps they are 1u space also

I've been curious about the difference between a home theater subwoofer like the Stereo Integrity models and a Pro Audio subwoofer like this one. I know its not a direct comparison since they are different sizes but still would like to know how they compare.

They play different frequency ranges....................... And thus very different physical attributes. Always comparing equal diameters, the HT subs play down to 10Hz as a design goal. They need to reproduce artificial synthetic sounds like earthquakes etc. in movies. So, we get huge excursions, very heavy cones, massive magnets to drive them & rubber surrounds. As well as low spl and inefficiency. Moreover, as a result of this design, HT subs cannot play over 250Hz at the highest without distortion due to the impedance. The crossover is never higher than that because, theoretically, the main & satellite speakers pick-up from there. On the other hand, PRO subs are designed to reproduce actual musical instrument sounds like kick-drums & bass guitars, NOT earthquakes. Except for some special tubas, the lowest note created by an instrument is a 5-string bass guitar open "B" note at 32Hz. A rate at which is almost never recorded but compressed UP to 40Hz generally. Light weight & fast paper cones are the goal here. Conversely, a PRO sub needs to play UP to around 800Hz because compression drivers take over from there (unless the PA is going 4-way) and can't get below 500 Hz. In conclusion, Tone, Tone & Tone! HT subs are mechanically incapable of tonally accurate Low Frequency instrument reproduction. Adding a HT sub to a pair of 2-way monitors can NEVER match 3-ways with a decent size (PRO)woofer for musical playback. 🔈🔉🔊

@@TriAmpMyFi Quite detailed. Thanks. That’s a good explanation of design philosophy behind each. I’m really curious about using pro drivers for HT. I see a lot of people doing it and boasting about them. I personally just figured it best to use drivers that are designed for home theater without really knowing the rationalization for either choice beyond that. So I’m interested to know how these compare to the Stereo Integrity.
@TriAmpMyFi
@TriAmpMyFi Жыл бұрын
@@danielwander605 Your welcome. You can use PRO drivers for HT but to get down low you'll need to go big. The PRO's don't use excursion, they use area to get low. It's about moving air. Just start to learn specs.... understand impedance vs. Xmax etc. & upper frequency limitations... yada,yada. Here's no secret that nobody talks about. To truly use a subwoofer correctly, you must use a high-pass crossover on the main and/or satellites. The sub is supposed to not only play low but to take the LF pressure off the mains. Stop the mains from trying to play low with a high pass filter. They'll play louder & cleaner. (show-off time) This is why I Tri-Amp. I use a dbx234XL active crossover and three amps. one each for the woofs, mids & tweets. Not because I'm so fancy but because I'm actually very frugal. A pair of finished loudspeakers are very expensive & I know one pair won't be enough forever. I use separate drivers in separate cabinets. I can, for example, take out my 6" cone mid-range & replace it with a mid-range compression driver with horn. I use the dbx234XL to adjust for the new crossover points and Bobs-Your-Uncle. I get a completely different sound signature for just the cost of one driver instead of buying a new set of expensive loudspeakers. As well, there's a whole list of advantages by getting rid of the passive crossovers in the cabinets. Have fun, enjoy he music................... 🔈🔉🔊

@@TriAmpMyFiou can use pro woofers for 20hz and lower bass. It happens in every commercial theater but its rare they gonna go below 20hz. But in smaller room like home theater if you don't mind a bit bigger enclosure they are really good. I bought ultimax and now Im changing to pro woofers. Their sensitivity at 20hz and below is the same as UM but they have much higher output above it and much lighter cone is plus. I will dsp them to flat 20. Also many pa woofers have much higher xmech which is why they win spl competitions and subs with long xmas usually are limited by it much more

I'd love to see gsg make a dual box for the stereo integrity 24 or atleast a single ported enclosure
@LifeofBliss
@LifeofBliss Жыл бұрын
I think the problem with a dual would be the weight. 2 24s are over 220 lbs as they are. You'd be looking at close to 500 lbs I bet after building a dual 24 box loaded up. I could see a ported box before dual. Even then, they take so much cu ft for ported... gonna be huge

That's a very interesting High Class woofer. But at $1,200 bucks a piece, i think i could get More out of 4 mid grade $274 dollar 11mm X-max 21" woofers from Dayton Audio for less money.
@LifeofBliss
@LifeofBliss 7 ай бұрын
Different speakers, different performance, different price. You'll also need 4x the space for the Dayton subs having 4 vs 1. And more channels of amplification. Not saying that wouldn't be an option, but just some things to consider comparing several lesser drivers to one premium driver.
