Just FYI, non-smokers do use beautiful antique ashtrays as paint brush rests, trinket &/or key dishes, make up brush rests, etc. Ask Jocelyn! Yikes! She was a few cards shy of a full deck as my father would say. Her prices, the comment on the lamp shade and pink flamingos....oh boy! She was a bit stuck in the 80’s in both. With all the pricing confusion I would use Jocelyn’s method of averaging that she uses for her flea market purchases. In fact with this deal making crazy lady, I would have offered her an even 400 (425) at most. Then if she didn’t accept, walk away. She’d think twice....especially after all the “helpful” misinformation she was so truthful about. Oh, yeah the eggs....where are they popular? They are hand painted (by whom) milk glass eggs used on chicken farms to get hens to lay. I remember gathering eggs for my Italian great aunt who lived in Napa back in the 60’s. I was so happy I gathered so many eggs, as she calmly separated the real one from the glass ones and asked me to return they back to the coop. They were so covered in chicken poop how was a young city kid to know the difference.😏 Anyway great haul and good job keeping your patience. I would have walked after the first few confusing comments. Ciao!

As an old time antique dealer I know what she meant LOL It is a code talk between older dealers. Usually when the older dealers are talking big discounts they are depending on buyers dropping a couple of thousand at one time for items, I think some of them do not realize those days are pretty much gone because of places like eBay and Etsy.

Wow! That place is fab!! Porcelain heaven. It never ceases to amaze me with places like that. If you have that amount of inventory you will Never be able to sell the majority of it. Lower your prices & sell more, otherwise it just sits there & you are bringing in new stuff daily/weekly. There is far too much greed in this world.

This is sooo frustrating. I have a similar experience. One of my local thrift stores that I had been shopping from for years usually stopped in at least 1/2 times per week. About a year ago I would go up to check out and say the item was marked $3.00 She would look up comps on eBay, then say “ no it’s not $3.00, it’s $7 or $9 dollars “. She started doing this every time!! I no longer shop there!!! And when driving by the place is overflowing with donations the whole parking lot is stacked with piles & piles of stuff. Apparently I wasn’t the only one who stopped shopping there. Sooo Frustrating to say the least.

Free eye exam! Hilarious. Thanks, saved me a trip to the optometrist. Wow that lady has a lot of inventory and some lovely things. I am still amazed that some of that stuff sells. I see tons of the hand-painted porcelain at estate sales and it just sits and no one wants it. But online is a different market. I look forward to the haul video to see all of what you got. I'd probably go back in another 3-6 months and see if her prices have come down.

Sometimes, I see antique malls where you can tell by the pricing and the fact that things SIT forever in certain booths, well, I just feel like those dealers are more collectors (sometimes hoarders). This woman seems to be a hoarder, and she is going to have all this stuff left on her hands and will end up in an auction. Her pricing structure was so random and absurd. You were a perfect gentleman about this situation. What an awkward situation. (I cringed at the old grime and dirt on that cart and at her banter.)
