@@captaingeek7798 Yeah. Seeing the Clone Wars in the movies and shows is like watching the umpteenth movie about Normandy, Pearl Harbor, or Iwo Jima. These smaller battles are more like the Winter War or foreign crews and ships in service with the British Home Fleet. I don't want to hear how the US saved the day AGAIN, tell me more about the Dutch gunboats that fought under stupidly heavy fire to support landings in Italy, or how the French and British clashed after the fall of France because the Royal Navy was TERRIFIED of Germany getting French ships.

@TerLoki
@TerLoki 4 жыл бұрын
@@jackrutledgegoembel5896 Sort of? They were mostly fighting for self-preservation. French leadership was in total chaos and the Navy that was docked was locked down in harbor deciding what to do. The British didn't give them a chance to decide and attack so that the Germans wouldn't get the ships. The major actions were at Mers-el-Kebir where HMS Hood put the battlecruiser Dunkerque out of commission, and off Dakar where HMS Ark Royal engaged battleship Richelieu. Richelieu was sent to New York and rejoined the Allied fleet in 1943 after a refit. Ships that joined the Allies tended to be put with the British Home Fleet in their own squadrons and were treated as sovereign territory of their nations. Polish destroyer ORP Blyskawica (now a museum ship) was another example, and another Polish destroyer even got into a gun duel with the BISMARCK, of all ships, and survived.

If there was one thing I wanted to see more of during the Clone Wars was massive battles. Huge fleet and ground battles featuring clones, natural born troops, and droids. Always pictured millions of warships and trillions of troops fighting all over the Galaxy. Would love to have seen a wide variety of ship and weapon designs from a wide variety of planetary navies, like Kuat or Corellia. Some planet killing weapons and orbital bombardments would have been nice too. I do much prefer the Legends Clone Wars lore, but I also like TCW too, though it feels too much like the Clone skirmishes instead.

To be honest, if I had written the Sequels, trying to unite all the various sector defense fleets to stand against the First Order would be a major plot point. I could see the NR demilitarizing like in canon, and the fear of not being strong enough to counter the resurgent Empire, versus the just as real fear of becoming the Empire themselves if they _do_ recentralize, had the potential to be such an interesting dynamic in the Sequels, but it was barely touched on. I'd definitely explore it if I had the chance.

@@CABRALFAN27 That was actually Mon Mothma's goal when she had the New Republic navy downsized. The hope that local planets/systems/sectors would actually start spending money to protect themselves more. I'd guess some would take the hint but others didn't. Perhaps they were either too poor to afford a notable defence fleet, too small, or unwilling to do so. But looking at it from that perspective, the idea of demilitarization didn't seem too stupid. Just executed kind of poorly.

In many ways they would be right. We know the CIS was trying to kill Padme before she came to Geonosis. But very few people within the Separatist movement did much less in the galaxy as a whole. And there was no actual benefit to the Separatist cause in killing her before the war ignited because the easiest way to achieve their stated goal was to get the Republic to let them go without a fight, and keeping a Republic army from forming would only help that end. So we have Obiwan, an agent of a firmly Republic organization, being captured while committing espionage, AKA a capital offense. Then a Republic senator, and another Jedi are captured while attempting to break him out of prison with no attempt to negotiate until they've been arrested. And rather then try to resolve the incident peacefully the Republic launches an invasion force.

From what i've read in canon and legends, the most popular ships and fighters for planetary defense forces during the time of TCW and GCW would have been Invincible class heavy cruisers, hammerhead-class corvettes, z-95's, dreadnought class cruisers, most of the Corellian engineering corporation's line-up of starfighters and corvettes, and many of the old republic-era ships that the republic sold the rights too. I also like to imagine them using older sith ships as well like the Centurion-class battlecruisers(which Nihilus used as his flagship) and harrower-class dreadnoughts.

Some plot concepts I would have loved to see in the Clone Wars show would been where the 501st goes to reinforce a clone legion that has been slogging it out for control of a planet since the war started. Here you would see most of the clones are still wearing phase I armor and that locals had been recruited directly into the legion. Maybe even a story where a pro-Republic defense force is made up of battle droids, fighting organic separatists.

I find the naval history subtext here very interesting. The treaty system is very similar to what we had IRL in the 20s and 30s, and they were subverted in similar ways. For example, there was the Japanese carrier Ryuujou. The Washington treaty defined carriers as ships above 10000 tons designed to launch and recover aircraft as their main purpose, and, again, a maximum tonnage was allocated to each navy for this purpose. So the Japanese tried to make Ryuujou smaller than 10000 tons and... partially succeeded. The ship was very unstable, had no protection whatsoever and the short deck meant she couldn't operate some modern aircraft. She was later refitted to have more stability, which brought the weight over the magical 10k tons line anyways. Still, the design succeeded in one thing, and that was the addition of a clause to the second Washington treaty that specifically prevented construction of a carrier under 10k tons in any of the member countries. Navies also frequently lied about the size of their ships, with the best example possibly being the Japanese Mogami-class. Cruisers were limited by the same 10k tons restriction as carriers, so although Mogami weighed in above this limit, Japan claimed she was actually completely treaty compliant, yessir, totally. They even tried to pass off a vessel that would eventually top out at 13500 tons in service as 8500 tons. Paradoxically, the US Navy was somewhat panicked by this, and then proceeded to build the Brooklyn class, which was by all accounts a rather excellent light cruiser with a blistering barrage of over 100 shells per minute (in theory). And, finally, HMS Nelson's torpedo defense system cheese. For this treaty system, a new displacement measurement had been devised that could be applied to all navies. That was called Standard displacement, and it discounted things like fuel, water, and food. So the British, when building their new battleship and desperate to get it properly protected from underwater explosions with little margin to spare, employed large water tanks in the hull as part of the torpedo defence. I don't know how this worked in detail, but it succeeded in bypassing the treaty restrictions because, well, it was water so it could be discounted. I hope my little rambling post was informative. It's interesting time and again how fiction writers are inspired by real events, or how their stories resemble real events. Spacedock has a video that shows how the fight against the Malevolence strongly resembles the hunt for Bismarck, for example.

The Sith on the otherhand, the Republic surmised to exterminate them until there's nothing left. The Sith race, the Sith Lord's, any remnant of their empires were all exterminated with leaving the last two Sith Bane and his apprentice going into hiding starting the rule of two. After the end of the Sith, the Republic looked to the next major threat to the galaxy, the Mandolorians. After exterminating the Sith, the Republic immediately then attack Mandalore, glassing the planet until to the point it can never be habitable again ,well except one small city of the planet. Once the Sith and the Mandolorians threat gone. The galaxy was at peace and it lasted for millenias. No need for a galactic military, no need for Jedi Lord's, but peacekeepers instead. Halo video videa What if the UNSC had never researched the spartan 2 or mjolnir programs. However one month after first contact with the covenant the UNSC INFINITY and her escort fleet of Autumn class cruisers appear at earth through a wormhole. The ships are fully operational and have manuals detailing how all ship systems, such as shielding and more advanced slipsace, operate and also how to build them for other ships. However it does not have the spartan 4s. How does this affect the human covenant war? Does humanity win or lose? #askeck

In my headcanon the clone army is supplemented by the non-clone Galactic Defense Forces, organized from local planetary defense forces as well as Republic Judicial Security. The GDF never had the same degree of organization or training as the clone army, but they were nonetheless essential in defending the Republic against the Separatist onslaught, especially in the later stages when clone numbers had been significantly reduced by attrition.

this is pretty cool! id love to see a show dedicated to these battles! and dont take sides but each ark could have both sides perspectives..while some might focus on 1 side cause they will win...and id really LOVE to see the vast amounts of ships..like local ships and armies...i really just wanna see the sheer creativity someone could put into them..like converted freighters or mabye even a hammehread cruiser mark 2 as a easter egg! everything is possible!

I like to imagine that the kuat defence fleet is like 30 or so venators and countless smaller ships by the exit of some hyperspace route. And they are just sitting there waiting to pulverize any enemy ship that dares to show its face.

The Kuat defense fleet was built around at least three 8km Mandator class dreadnaughts and their successors, the Mandator II class dreadnaught, so a little more impressive than the venators.

Explains why the Republic is hesitant to help Onderon in that arc, and want to focus on helping them help themselves instead. It would have been a cool nuanced element to the Clone Wars-era, if it was like the Republic's clone army was outnumbered by the Separatist's droid army as is now, but the Republic had far greater local/Sector-forces than the CiS, courtesy of them having a lot more systems at the outbreak of the war.

I know that for the purposes of TV they had to show the heroes in small unit actions where they made a difference. And that budget constraints probably meant that even on-screen battles showed a lot fewer ships than were *actually* at the battle. However, that really subtracted from the epic feel of Star Wars. The fact that we saw nothing like the Battle of Coruscant in TCW was a lost opportunity to show scale. In TCW, during the "Malevolence" arc, they mention a dozen fleets being destroyed. Would have been thrilling to see *those* battles!

Apart from the Mon Calamari Royal Forces from TCW, we can also count the Twilek Resistance that appears in the same show as a planetary defense force. Well, an improvised one, compared to the Royal Forces of Mon Cala, those where civilians and some actually battle-trained members, fighting to not be in control of the CIS.

When watching the clone wars I wanted to see one of these fleets and ground forces coming to aid hte jedi and the clones, showing that their are other armies and fleets out their fighting for the republic as well. I always believed they existed despite some negative feedback from some nut would made sense. Whether they were created as planet/system defense force and still decently armored. Or a well funded judicial forces.

I seem to remember that dave filoni released some concept art of a battle between trandoshan separatists and Republic wookies that was meant to be in the clone wars. It would have been nice to see more conflict between average citizens of either side rather than just magic samurai and genocidal roombas. Also more separatists who are decent people would great too seeing as George literally says "heroes on both sides" in the Revenge of the Sith title crawl.

Fighter/bomber/proton multiple warheads long range missle boats. Could be smaller cheaper to maintain but devastating a plant, or a large city with less cost. Think 1 piolet, a R12 d15. Possibly has 12 special features. Like a 1)clothing dry cleaner, 2)a drink dispenser, 3)a food regigeration unit,4) oven, and 5) a presiouse object storage valut. Also 6) a computer that can caulate 15 jumps. 7) inter stealer comication 8) ship repair tools 9)10)11)12)see R2 D2 ablities for likely ideas. But this droid could rapidly cauclted several jump's and ecucte the attack target jump pattern. Buy jump in fier 12 deflector sheilded, or extreme range stealthee cruse proton missile's. Then jump out of system to a resupply area. But you would not be putting a star destroyer, and 25,000 man at risk to do what the fighter bomber/ A wing was built for. Rember a plantary force has a budget. But just adding a droid with estialy a nava computer instead of a older out dated model could increase the A wings effect. This is what caused the republic to collapse to much expense to littel profits 📈.

In my opinion the war never really ended especially in the mid and outer rim, but the tactics changed to guerrilla warfare against the opressors after the rise of the empire. Thats the rebellion. Good examples for that are Onderon, Kashyyk or Lothal with varying success but youre right in that the soon end of the clone wars caused much confusion and paused the fighting in many systems for years as the governments had to reform.
