These are very rewarding ferns, definitely. They make great companions to orchids.

Thank You. I have a small blue Star. Its interesting that you can get such a healthy huge plant in such a small container. Such a lovely Fern... Bless.

@@MrWolfheart111 It’s because they are epiphanies and they don’t use the soil like other plants, they live on trees in the wild so can grow very big without lots of roots. Fascinating plants. Thanks for your comment.

Thank you for this. It was incredibly helpful to see that you too just put it as it was into a bigger pot as I did. I was worried about some of the caterpillars being intertwined with the roots 😮 unfortunately my poor baby suffered way too much neglect these last 2 years! So not too many leaves like yours, i do hope i have managed to save my plant 😅

Well done for rescuing it’s original black pot! I thought you might end up cutting the pot to get the plant out!

I have the same one. It is humongous and keeps growing like there is no tomorrow. Just replanted it yesterday. Unfortunately had to break my hanging pot as there was no way of getting the root ball out. Love your harvest knife! Need one. I have three monsters like this. Another one is ruffled blue star fern and the third one is a stag fern. All are massive. Two are now in hanging weaved baskets with plastic lining as it is easier to get them out of basket, the ruffled one is awaiting new pot / basket. I am scared of getting it out as I do not want to break that particular pot. For the stag fern I was using the Orchid mix with added sphagnum moss. It loves it. And so I have used the same compost for the blue fern this time. Unfortunately no sphagnum moss, run out. We will see what is going to happen. These ferns are hanging in a north facing bay window, practically covering all day light in a room. But I love them like that.

I got one a few yrs back and this year will be 2 years I transplanted it into a coconut basket. Now it's outgrowing it.I would like to keep putting into something bigger to see how huge it might get.I might try the spores just to see if I can grow them.

Question: this fern was growing outside but i love it so much i planted it in a pot and brought it inside. I live in the Northeastern, USA, central Massachusetts. My b outdoor ferns become dormant in the winter. Since this one is inside will it continue to grow? It already seems root bound and I'm wondering if i should wait till spring to repot it. I really love it. Its pretty warm inside my house and i can place it where there is some good light. Now I'm worried! Your video is great, thank you! Please advise.

@@agave20091 If it’s warm and sunny enough it will keep growing in which case you could repot it and put in some more moisture retaining soil but if you get very cold over winter and dark days I would keep it happy and repot in Spring.

I got a blue star Fern the last month too , but mine is looking sad and has some Dry brown leaves . She’s just not looking ok . The pot Is tiny , I was planning to repot her , but will it be ok to do it in October ? Thank u !!
@HouseplantHacks Жыл бұрын
Yes, sounds like it needs more water, as it's inside it should be fine to repot in Oct, try not to disturb the roots too much that's all. Better that than stress from underwatering.

I have a fern that looks to be Blue Star.. but it smells intoxicatingly delicious... can anyone tell me the name of a fern that looks similar to Blue Star that smells of sweetgrass????
