Lando27Music the random pics was an example I pulled from my ass not putting any thought into it. I assume though that you put thought into this because everything else in the vid is educational and a good a b c ing of 3 similar guitars. Idk just seems like the air guitar in the background is wasted energy to me. To each his or her own though. Your vid and you can play air guitar in the background of the entire video if you want. And all your vids from now on. Maybe it will be your new thing. If you had a thing to begin with. Idk this is the first time I’ve ever seen a vid of you. Well have a good day. Who am I anyway. I can’t judge your shit. Sorry.

same!!! HAHA. I ranked them 1) Y, 2) X, and Worst by far) Z. According to that I assumed it was X = CV, Y = Fender Player, Z = Affinity. 😂😂😂 OOPS

@@zac1002 Yup. The Fender is actually pretty disappointing sound wise. Just saved a bunch of money not getting or lusting after one. The CV is just sounds better. But that gloss neck is crap. But a Scotch-Brite pad can help with that.

Same all the way, Y, X, Z. Y without any doubt at all is clearly the best sounding. I naturally assumed it was the Fender. X was my 2nd fav, although I was thinking with the clarity of Z, one might be able to achieve the X sound by turning the tone a little darker? 🤔

Excellent job on the review Landon! As a former Fender factory authorized guitar tech and having owned 6 Fender American made Tele's, you addressed all the questions in my mind. The photos were crystal clear and I'd say the sound portion was done about as fairly as one could expect. My choice in sound was guitar Y (Classic Vibe). Although on one example the Affinity sounded better to me. On two dirt examples the Fender Player sounded best. As far as appearance, the Classic Vibe wins! And for build quality the Fender Player is the clear winner. I would get the Classic Vibe as it looks best, sounds great and is very affordable. But all three guitars held their own considering their price point.

This may be the best comparison video I've ever seen. Completely accurate sounds. I got to try a Player and Classic Vibe with the same amp at a shop. They sound so close to each other, any difference can easily be EQ'd away. The necks are quite different, which is why I bought the Player, but that's totally personal preference. If you like thin, glossy necks, save some money and buy the CV.

I own several premium guitars, as well as one of my latest s, a Fender Player Series Arctic White lefty Stratocaster which gives my 09 USA Fender a run for its money, etc. having said that, I recently found a beautiful mint condition left handed Squier Affinity Tele for 120$ vis OfferUp. With some polishing, light tuning up, and fresh strings, sounds beautiful. I wouldn’t say that you HAVE to buy the more expensive guitars at all. Honestly, I sound identical no matter which of my guitars I play. Great video! I love my Affinty series Tele😊

Hey Landon, I guessed which was which based on personal past listening experience. I am 54 years old, and have listened to enough Rock to know that a Classic Tele sound has a full robustness un surpassed soul wise. There is a balance between the depth, clarity and chime. I found and had a hunch that the Infinity would sound punchier and yet thin, and I just found that the Player had what i call the "trying too hard to be cool " sound and look. Well I guess it really is and was known to be a Classic before any of us were able to judge them. Personal preference is the key, so, when the Classic was made, there must have been majority vote on what to name this Classic Tele. Thank you, great informative coverage of some great guitars, especially the Classic which is the model of what would change the world forever. Rock On , live long and prosper !!

I bought a fender modern player on a whim 3 or 4 years ago. Although it's not a direct comparison due to it having 3 pups it's a wonderful playing an sounding guitar. The 1 piece maple neck and pine body make it more resonant than any guitar I've ever played in my 55 years of playing. Even with the 3 pups and phase switch every setting is still very tele sounding. The quality of the build is totally equal to my classic American fenders. Unfortunately after this last year I would only buy an American or possibly mim product.

I did guess them right, and I was pretty confident going in that I would. I do play a Tele through an AC30, so a core familiarity from standing in front of that glorious Voxification of an electric guitar probably made it easier. My observations...the Fender is one touchy guitar. It's just flat out more expressive than the Affinity, I'm guessing the technical reason is the pickups are hotter. This is both good and bad...for a mediocre player it is going to unmask every little thing your hands and fingers are doing...for a really good player it is going to open up possibilities of expressiveness that would be harder to coax out of the Affinity. The Vibe feels somewhere in between, and closer to the Fender than the Affinity. My conclusion: get an Affinity to start with. When you get better, DON'T SELL IT, keep it! Add a Fender Tele. And skip the higher end Vibes - save pennies, and skip the intermediate step. If you are good, you'll appreciate the relatively subtle differences between them. One last thought...this really is the golden age of musical instruments...all three guitars sound fantastic, none of them put a meaningful limit between the artist and the song they're trying to bring to life. It is incredible how high quality even cheap guitars are today!

I wasn't sure if I'd like a Tele long-term. After trying the player series, and a USA, I bought an Affinity as a starter, because I couldn't justify the price difference since I didn't know how much I would end up playing a Tele. Bottom line, for the $140, (including shipping!) it turned out to be an AWESOME value, and I play it about every other day (and I have 11 other guitars). I don't know if every Affinity owner had the same luck, but the fit and finish was way better than I could have ever expected. I planned to have to spend a while on set-up, but other than having to intonate two strings, and adjust one saddle, the setup/nut/saddle heights were perfect. I spent 20 times longer than that setting up my American Strat. Go figure.... Only small personal cons/dislikes for me: 1) I'm not a fan of the very white,matte neck finish (so I lightly sanded neck and sprayed it with amber lacquer) 2) The headstock logo looked cheap. Sanded it off and applied a new water slide decal under the lacquer. 3) the paint. Very smooth and glossy, no blemishes, but the color is a little more orange than butterscotch, and it has a weird sort of translucent, sort of opaque quality. Kind of like light passing through a piece of Werther's toffee. These small things aside, dollar for dollar, this is a VERY good guitar, especially considering it's 1/10th the cost of an American Tele.

I think the second one sounded the best, sort of in the middle ground in “twanginess”. The first one was lacking a bit in clarity, like the tone knob was dialed back slightly. The third one was nice, but a little too bright, almost harsh in my opinion.

I recognised them all. Like you said, there is nothing wrong with them. You get what you pay for. And one may choose to buy a cheaper model to spend money on specific pickups for example. Whatever works good for the player. Because of the neck and the tone I also prefer the Fender. But the classic vibe was not bad at all. And as a bass player that is too much of a guitar for me already. On bass I own a Squier MIJ from the 90s with a light ash body and a Sterling Ray34 with ash body. Those are my main basses. The squier has Emg Geezer Butler passive pickups, some previous owner changed the pickups to Dimarzio splitP, which are great, but I wanted a less modern tone. The Ray34 is stock. And I don't see the need for spending more money unless it is a custom made instrument. I'm interested in similar comparisons among stratocaster, sg, les paul and flying v models.

And I own a Yamaha Pacifica with ash body and flamed maple top. With Dimarzio Paf. And a cheap strat and a cheap telecaster copys. The neck cheap is the most comfortable to me. The yamaha is of far better quality, it is also the most expensive but I prefer more standard stratocaster necks.

Mike G. To be honest if you really want a tele that has a “famous name brand” i would save up for a classic vibe. I have played both and was overall more suprised with the classic vibe (in a good way). Not that there is anything wrong with the affinity, ist a pretty decent guitar all togheter, but the classic vibe gets you “more guitar” and is overall more pleasing to play and hear. But that is Just my humble opinion. But i ended up without a squier tele, i bought a Harley Benton telecaster instead! (The te-52). You would be amazed of the quality of the guitar! Its a bit heavy, but it has an incredible neck and it sounds amazing! Its competes with the classic vibe in my opinion, especialy at the crazy prise of €159!

Mike G. No problem! Glad to help! There isnt anything wrong with the quality of the Benton, and not in a “its great for the money” kind of way.Its great all togheter. Sure there are a few things some people might not like, it would not hold its value money wise, altough i cant find a reason to sell it personally. Its heavy, some are more then 10 pounds wich is heavy for a tele. If you dont like heavy guitars you would be better of with the squier. The neck is pretty fat but both the weight and neck fatness is all to your personal liking. The classic vibe is a great guitar to! Its very comfortable to play and sounds great. I really cant find any isues with it that would make me not buy it. But i ended up getting the Harley Benton Because of the crazy price, compared to the classic vibe its a fairly big differance. And i like the fatter un-laccered neck more.

The Classic Vibe had much more resonant tone (more musical) than the other two in every pickup selection and amp setting. Where the Player sounded very dry and uninteresting tone-wise, I kind of preferred it in the bridge/dirty setting. What was dry before became more immediacy / in your face kind of thing. So I did like that one combination better - but for everything else, the CV was the clear stand-out for me. (I enjoyed the "Fly By Night" riff too) :-D

Thanks very much, Landon! Actually, I've been comparing these three for the past two weeks not knowing what to settle for....... NOW, my inclination... the tone on the Classic vibe sold me. It's probably a combination of features on that Squire that influence the tone, perhaps. I didn't like the tone on the Player that much. I also like the finish and grain in the classic. I really appreciate your video as it's the most sound and to the point vid out there. There are others that are trying to compare them, but they have way to many variables involved (multiple amps, mods, ect). Anyways, I just bought a Player the other day (against some folks advice). I must say that I am seriously disappointed in the build quality and the way it was setup from the factory. The frets were sticking WAY out and were razor sharp, the pickups came screwed all the way down, not intonated, and the neck was slightly out of line. This will be getting returned. I realize this is not a custom shop guitar, but in the $800-900 price range, I expect more. I seriously have guitars laying around that are 1/4 the value that have 200% better quality control in the fit and finish department. I also place a lot of blame on GC, my local dealer. They should never let anything get out the door in that kind of shape (I ordered on-line and picked up in person). I also notice that almost all Tele guys end up changing pickups and making various mods. Being that I see very little difference, I think I can pick up a squire at a fourth the price and and take that saved money and throw in some better pickups and hardware (if needed) to do whatever needs to be done and still save money (if I still desire a Tele). At this point I'm just going to order a custom guitar from Keisel and get what I want.

(Pickups are really loud, which usually means expensive too, but can't be sure.) Honestly the only one I can tell apart is the classic vibe. Have no idea between X and Z. Their characteristics seem to switch from clean to dirt channel. Like the neck pickup on Z sounds really clean on clean channel but really noisy on dirt channel. But then the bridge pickup for Z sounds really good on dirt, and X bridge sounds noisy on dirt. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Damn this is confusing... 😅 They all sound great though. Nothing "bad sounding" in particular. Can't go wrong with anyone, especially if you're saving some bucks too. Anyways, nice video! 👍🏻

I liked the clean sound on Y followed by Z then X. It sound more brighter and more resonating. However I prefer Z more when it comes to the dirty sound, and Y being the least preferred. I think Z has a quite balanced sound, X has just gives you what it can give you for the price, and Y totally comes down to what kind of sound one prefers.

It was a little harder to figure out between y and z but I was able to get em all through a phone speaker, which I feel like says something. The affinity honestly stood out like a sore thumb, but I wouldn't say it sounded bad. But the distortions got so overly crunchy and stale as you went up to the higher strings. Cleans were more than passable though and distortion sounds fine for some simple rhythm. I think an electronic change would make it on par with the CV and the Fender Player with a maybe $70 upgrade and some skills that you may or may not possess

Not sure about getting what you pay for? In the shop, the CV sounded better (to me) and also had better finished frets. Pretty much half price of the player, it should be the other way round. I really wanted a Player though because I love the tide pool blue, but the CV was a better guitar all round, just wished it had fender on headstock not Squire. 5 mins with a bit of light wire wool and the neck is now satin. In comparison to CV, Squire affinity was a bit muddy on dirty, player was a bit more brittle than I wanted, but we all have a different idea of the sound we like. What a great comparison though, no bs and a sense of humour.

I didn’t really like X. I liked Z by far with Y in a distant second. I like a more melodic/jangly type sound over the twangy sound so maybe that’s why Z just ‘spoke to me’. Y sounded more suited to heavy metal or really hard rock. My 2 cents.

Awesome video, I just got a lefty affinity (yeah, impossible to find lefty classic vibe here on brazil, not even on a irreasonable price). I'm pretty satisfied with the tones you showed, tbh I thought the tones would be bad, but they're great, not classic vibe great, but I liked it more than the Player, I'm happy it'll fit my style.

Guessed right. X, as mentioned before, dark and muddy. Not my cup of tea, gets a no from me. The other two, depends. Y for clean, nice open sound. Z has more of an attack, which might be better for more serious distortion/overdrive. Not sure why one would use a telecaster for that purpose, but each to its own. Telecasters are for the twang IMO, and for that, Y is the obvious choice. It's got that nice signature sound when played clean.

I just ordered a classic vibe tele so I decided to look up some sound samples. This one made me very excited to get the guitar! I knew the affinity right away, and THOUGHT I knew the fender and the CV, but I mixed them up. I was thinking “man the classic vibe (what I though was Z) sounds good, but I really like the sound of the Y, that has to be the fender.” Great video keep putting out the awesome content!

I got the Affinity right. I thought Y was the Fender because on clean it sounded the clearest of them all (X sounded kind of boomy almost, not clear in the lower mid range). But on the Tube Screamer, I thought that Z might be Fender, because it just has more oomph, it's like it has a bit more gain, but it's also clearer with gain. The differences aren't huge, and most of the Affinity's problems could be solved with EQ. It also looks great, I might actually go for that one!

I believed X was Affinity, Y fender player and Z classic vibe. Classic vibe and player are very close together : all both are accurate. I got a classic vibe JM, the glassy neck is not sticky and i really love its thin neck (compared to a 90's Japan strat squier). Definitly i think the Tele CV is the great winner of this test. Thanks a lot for your video !

Great review! The deep dive was very informative. I also enjoyed the ASMR vibe of the photo montage section. The Affinity sounded surprisingly good. The Squire 50's sounded a bit dirty/hot even with the clean signal. The Player IMHO sounded closest to the clarity of the original/vintage twang. I guess it all boils down to what you're looking for. I record at home so I like to have a separation of sound between two guitars. A twangy Tele would be the good counterpart to my American Standard Strat. Thanks for helping me decide!

I had an affinity in what they call some kind of white but was actually kinda on the blonde side and came with a white pickgaurd. I changed that to a 3 ply black fender pickgaurd (the holes matched up perfectly), had the fret ends done and a proper setup and it was a damm fine tele!😊....

@@tyecook9630 I think I can just tape the fret board with some painters tape and use some 600 grit sand paper on the fret ends and even the tops of the frets my self. I am fixing to buy a used infinity the deal is about to go down. 600 grit only polishes.

@@shartne oh yeah you can totally do it yourself, there's plenty of helpful videos on here to learn how although it seems like you have a pretty good idea what you're doing already...I'm sure you'll enjoy that affinity and now I'm seriously considering grabbing another one as I was guitarless until recently when I found a killer deal on a seagull s6 acoustic. Now I just need a decent electric again and it will definitely be a squier tele of one kind or another but I would probably avoid the bullet series...

@@tyecook9630 You can never go wrong with the color black. It might be fun to add better parts to it like tuners and pick guard if it needs it. I usually do nothing to my guitars except clean them and play them. Change the strings that is all I have done to them but Im going to start polishing the frets for some good string bending Im not too good at that it hurts to bend strings I never get use to it.

@@shartne yeah it's always fun to add your own little touches to any guitar and bending gets easier with practice and a light set of strings like 9-42's is a good idea for that too...

I liked the X (Affinity) most of all three. Just incredible sound for little money. Can't wayt to get one. They are manufactured or crafted in China but the quality is pretty good and most of all guitars are crafted in far east, so... Changing the tuners, the pickups and the small alpha pots would double the price of the guitsr but probably improve it evan more. But that way for 236 the affinity and another 200-250 for changing peaces you would get a incredible guitarsound.... that's the next project

@ipuya
@ipuya 3 жыл бұрын
@@landonbailey that would be great! but please try finding or borrowing a baja! What is so unique about the baja is that it has custom shop designed pickups! A twisted tele in the neck and a broadcaster in the bridge! I've read so much about these so I'd love to hear your take on them cause you're so honest with your opinions. The vintera is basically the same (also has 4 way toggle + S1 switch) but doesn't have the custom shop pickups. I feel like the baja is developing in to a legendary guitar and may be the reason they discontinued it cause they wouldn't want such a high end guitar at that low price since it would make their higher end offerings less attractive.
