These are by far the longest slabs I've cut yet. This was a huge cherry log I needed to get sawed. The slabs were 250 lbs each. Man were these nice slabs!

I could see tons of potential in it just from your walk by early in the video. Great looking. Glad it's getting made into something.

It was headed for firewood when I spotted it. The first two boards I pulled off will make great laptop boards too.

I need to come back out and put a water spigot by the mill for you.

"Fresh" cheery log. Remind me to avoid all leftovers in your fridge. For reals though you should make components to make casks for booze. Middlefield custom casks! Then pass a used cask to nate!

It's good to know my leftovers are safe!

I had to watch to see why in your thumbnail you were lounging on the log...I figured your sister was making you pose again 🤣 That ugly log turned out to be hiding some beautiful slabs, good work George!
@mcsawmillАй бұрын
I had two thumbnails and I asked my sister to pick one so you nailed it lol...

I didn't make him do it, though, just use it for the thumbnail. 😁

Nice Slabs George

Thanks, you can't see it in the video but it had really good color too, very cherry.

That's a beauty George. Seems like cherry is stingy with the figure, we often see cherry crotch with little figure and just a bunch of bark inclusion. You hit the jackpot!

It's been about two years since I saw cherry like that.

I wish cherry was a bit more stable. Looks great though.

That's why I had to saw it now, if I let it sit much longer it would have been useless.

Couple wuestioonsWhat specie is that log. I am only familiar with orchard cherry. They don't get that long. How did you know it was cherry?
@mcsawmillАй бұрын
It's black cherry, one of the few logs I can identify easily because the cut ends turn black.

Those spots aren't burl! They are clusters of pin knoits
@mcsawmillАй бұрын
Pin knots? Thanks I've never heard them called that before. So spikey is burl and round is pin knots?

2:29 too much log ... TOO MUCH LOG?? I can't believe those words came out of your mouth, George! Maybe you should show everyone the monsters looming at the end of your driveway, pretending to protect the trash can. With cherries, don't you just spit out the piths?
