A hernia is not a ton of fun. My daughters who lucky them are married or living with some fellow have hernias and so when I got one at about forty years of age thought nothing about it till one day it hurt so bad that I thought someone poured hot lead in my tummy... so easy guys. Ya think ya got yer moneys worth out of this mill yet/LOL

That log ain't over 20 years old look at the rings that lumber will walk off barrel hoops in a day or so not fit for lumber maybe if you cut it in 6x6s I bet the rings are 3/8 of and inch a part

Them little band mills are so slow I built a circle mill years ago took two belsaw mills put the carriage on hdy that run the dogs manual 54 inch inserted teeth blade 671 Detroit power I could cut that log up in less that ten minutes

Circle mills are definitely faster. They are also much harder to take over to your buddies house so you can compare sawmills.

Because if I had a circle saw mill my buddy would want to see it and his friend would want to see it and his friend and on and on and if you ever had one it would make you tired to look at a little band mill my son has a small band mill if you cut very much you will have to change the blades alot ran mine for years changed the inserted teeth once lol

By the time you actually figure this out you will be too tired to cut log. Hint the closer to the machine with the load the more you can lift. Tape measures tell stories

Northern catalpa - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalpa_speciosa and southern catalpa - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalpa_bignonioides . Short lived, normally grows in the south but can grow virtually anywhere in the US and extensively planted outside of its native range.

Hey George, I'm not far from you, just over the county line. New to milling I have 4 hours on my ez boardwalk 40. Would love to saw some catalpa. A few years ago I live edged a small branch from one in my yard with a chainsaw. Made a small bench. I think the wood is nicer than walnut

Catalpa worms are popular for fishing! Use the wood for outdoor furniture. It is very rot resistant.

@@brucewelty7684 it's a weird wood. When dry it's heavier than pin oak and stronger too, I think pin oak is about 6000 lbs crush strength and palm is like 9000

When sliding slabs off sawmill could you rig a remote control winch to your skidsteer. Using two hook-pullies in side of slab running cable back to lift. Then slide the slab on the forks and save your back.

You have to hang heavy stuff closer to the machine. You can even take the fork attachment off and hang it from your cross bar. Good looking slabs.

Large sawmills pile their walnut tight. Steam it so it all turns brown. Then dry it. So there’s no white sapwood cuz no one can afford to cut off all the sapwood from every log

I would love to find a way to preserve the fresh cut colors. Also when I saw walnut for me I keep sapwood on it, I like the contrast.

I'm picking up 3 hemlock logs today to saw up for the kiln build. Can't build without the wood lol... Hemlock is amazingly difficult for me to get for some reason.
