I know nothing about chess, barely play and know very little about the game. But I'm from Spain and I can assure, without a doubt, that note has not been written by any spaniard and it is so clear. We would not write "no toques". Nobody in Spain speaks or writes like that. We would say "no tocar el movil" or "no toques el movil" (much less likely in my opinion, but still possible). "No toques" by itself feels so weird to say.

@@Tihreerpeople tend to see patterns that aren’t there. And it only works for specific patterns because it’s based on experience… every human has pattern recognition, that’s why experience is so important when doing a task and getting better… the only thing that GMs spend most their time doing is chess… they actually are likely to be worse than average people because they hyper focus so much attention on one specific thing
@sentientbeing8738
@sentientbeing8738 6 күн бұрын
@@Tihreer Depends on if its general pattern recogntion or specific. Chess is a very specific skill that is trained... well, specifically. Spotting a 5 move tactic on a board game instantly isnt exactly going to help you in other walks of life. For example, pattern recognition is how we learn, speak, and write languages. Being good at chess wont help you there. Its not a piece on a board.

I think cheating in chess also involves some kind of psychological problem. I play a lot in lichess in anonymous mode when I'm practicing opening lines and found out that many of my oponnents used engine and one can think that there is no point in that. Those are unrated games and you don't get anything from that, but I think it is a mental or emotional issue.

@@adomaskuzinas2137 I played blitz that way and didn't find that; as an intermediate player the field was a little better than I was but not a lot. I quit because it was cancer for a different reason: poor sportsmanship. I couldn't find a way to turn off takeback requests in anonymous games, and people would quit without resigning if you didn't let them takeback mistakes (not just misclicks). That and all the stall-quitting, which sucks even in blitz. "Dude, it's anonymous! There's no rating. Why not just resign?"

I applaud Levi for making one of his main concerns the wellbeing of Shevchenko. It's far too easy to join into a feeding frenzy, which is only ever about those partaking feeding their own egos at other people's expense. So, bravo to Levi for not being that kind of person. Cheating needs to be taken seriously in chess in order for the game not to be brought into disrepute with all the damage that can do. Taking it seriously means doing the real work of prevention, detection and deterence, and not engaging in endless conspiracy theorising. Here's hoping that FIDE can defy their own history and that of most sports governing bodies and haul their snouts out of the corporate trough just long enough to protect the interests of the game for its players and fans. That said, I won't be holding my breath expecting that to happen.

In terms of Kramnik my thoughts are: even if he catches every person cheating, but accuse 99 people falsely per each actual cheater, still Kramnik has a failure rate of 99%. A person won’t cross a bridge if there is 99% chance of it breaking, so why a trust a person with the same record. Additionally, just because you’re a chess world champion doesn’t give you the right to bully other chess players.
