Here is Kramnik's problem. When you adopt the mentality that everyone is cheating, it makes it so much harder to catch when your opponent blunders. When he sees an unexpected move, I bet his first thought is that it's an engine move, not that it's a mistake. That would explain why he's been getting worse.

it's like watching video game streamers who have devolved into "if I die it's a cheat" or "oh wow, of course, streaming snipers" for normal gameplay defeats. They just get tilted and refuse to accept they might not be as good as they thought they were.

By the way, the opening system that White is playing against the Sicilian is known as the Kopec System that was introduced and popularized by the Canadian IM Danny Kopec sometime in the early 1980s. White plays a form of the Closed Ruy Lopez against the Sicilian with the bishop going to Bd3-Bc2 after the pawn is moved to c3 and the d pawn moving to d4 or sometimes d3. If I'm not mistaken, he played this opening system against all main Sicilian variations.

Levy, when they play on 'computers' it HAS to be a LAN configuration. it has to be isolated from the internet but with enough infrastructure for an arbiter to always be able to pull up task manager on them to prove no funny business. please consult with whoever you need to consult and make this happen. please go all out on the 'gaming' / computer chess side of it and do it LAN format with an on-site server... go all out....

Semi unrelated, it would be a pretty fun series to have viewer submitted games where they think someone is cheating and you try to figure out whether they actually are or the viewer who submitted the game is just coping. In Counterstrike global offensive they had overwatch and it was some good content trying to figure out who was cheating and who wasn't. We know cheating happens (in both games) would also be beneficial to learn how to catch them. Just a thought, love the content

I hop the computer games in the match will include the same time control that Martinez beat Kramnik in. It should be safe to allow players to use whatever mouse they are accustomed to, but of course the players' computers should be in a private network with no outside connection, to avoid any charges of players' bodily devices receiving the game and sending signals.
