MASSIVE Crash in the National Superstock 1000 race at Silverstone

Barry Teasdale and Paul McClung have a massive accident at turn 1, lap 2 of the superstock race.

It's been brought to my attention that Paul McClung has actually suffered a list of serious injury from the crash which includes several fractures in his back, dislocated hip, fractured pelvis, bleeding lungs and head trauma. When I marshalled, I would never stand on the top of a safety barrier !!! They had nowhere to run too and no escape route.

As a fellow marshal I agree. I left Racesafe as I think the way Racesafe is run is poor and marshalling was never the same after they came into marshalling,

@ArmageddonRacing It depends on the 'corner commander' Some are good and some are not so good. [there is one I will not name but I would never want to share a corner with her ever again!]

​@ArmageddonRacing Start with club racing. Bemsee or Thundersport. You will not only love it but its the best way to get into and learn how to be a marshal. Just go on their web site and go from there.. All you have to do is to turn up at the meeting, [you wont have to pay to get in of course and Friday, a test day, is free anyway] and there you go, on a post watching bikes race and picking up the fallers. *GREAT FUN!*

@ArmageddonRacing just head down to your local circuit for any club racing and they'll usually start you off right there and consider doing cars as well as bikes a lot of circuits are struggling for marshals. I've marshaled most meetings whether cars or bikes at my local circuit for about 7 years now I nearly always have a good time even with bikes which I'm less of a fan of.

You can be stood at the side of a long straight and still get hit by a bike coming over the barrier it's a unusual place for the bike to end up hence why they were stood there you should always be looking towards the flow of traffic just in case it kicks off likes this
