Blaming fiat currency is irrational. Currency is currency and all types of currency depend on the same characteristics to establish value, fiat is no different than rare metals, crypto or anything else... Currency is based on trust, faith and acceptance. Think about it... Aside from no one stashing gold bars in their home (people trade for gold certificates or stocks which are pieces of paper that represent gold), gold bullion has value only if both your trading partner and you are willing to accept gold as payment and that decision would be based on your faith in gold and trusting that it won't lose value between this and your next transaction. If either person refuses any of these characteristics of gold, then gold fails as an acceptable currency for the transaction. It's the same for every currency, apply the same principle to whatever currency you propose to use and it's all the same. In the case of the Dollar, its status is superior to even precious metals like gold because it checks all the boxes and many more... Besides absolute universal recognition and acceptance, it's easy to exchange in its many forms, is stable and retains value better than any other currency over time. As long as the Dollar is backed by the strongest economy in the world, is skillfully managed and has a strong track record, the Dollar won't be replaced by any other currency fiat or not.

I live in Japan, and things are going well here. Shopping centers are busy, office occupancy rates are still high, the country is flooded with tourists bringing in dollars and euros. Restaurants, hotels, theme parks, and ski resorts are fully booked up, despite the fact that very few Chinese are visiting Japan relative to a few years ago. Inflation remains under control, and, while not perfect, at least Japan's economy is not bad. The big difference between China and Japan over the last few years was their response to the COVID pandemic. China enacted draconian measures, and a "Zero COVID" policy. Japan didn't enact anything. In Japan there were no mandated lockdowns, no mandated business closures, no mandates against domestic travel, no mask mandates, and no vaccine mandates. Japan also spent very little on pandemic relief, but didn't need to as Japanese people were largely able to continue working, going to restaurants, shipping, and living more or less normal lives.

China is the only country that had draconian policies for years. I can only speak for Sweden, which never closed down. Covid was still hard, it affected business, but only for a little while. Then came the inflation, but that was not due to us, but because other countries closed down causing massive supply chain issues and an energy crisis due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Due to high interest rates many people here are facing a mortgage that is 4-5 times more expensive per month: ours went up from about 5k RMB (converted from Swedish krona) to 20k, but this was from extremely low interest levels (~1%). Now inflation is dissipating, so interest rates will likely go down slowly from here, but many families are in a very difficult situation for the next year or two. So far not much unemployment though.
