So the thing about the Paranormal Activity movies is they were definitely designed for theater watching. I would go to the opening weekend for those films, and the theater was always packed full. Normally this means a lot of noise etc, but with these movies it would always be a tense silence as we all looked to see what was going to move/be creepy during the “wheres waldo” type haunting scenes. The Mike Tyson tattoo thing happened but it was the 3rd movie I think. It was the tattoo artist that sued the movie rather than Tyson himself though. I'm pretty sure the whole case was settled to keep the movie in theaters though and most likely the home version changed it.

Regarding Argo: the "based on a selection" by Tony Mendez, he was a CIA officer, and his wife Jonna (still alive) was the CIA head of disguises. They both wrote some crazy books, and Jonna has done some really cool videos recently about her days at the CIA. That said, overall while Argo was a great film, in reality Canada did the lions share of the work in getting the hostages out, not the US as depicted.
