I agree with both of you, but i think Chandler was doing somrthing he has taken a risk and done thousands if not more times before. It happens, rarely with someone with this amount of experience, but unfortunately it did happened when the law is cracking down anf has a huge magnifying glass on those who are making content for all the right reasons and will see this accident as just another way of shutting everyone down--Like Chandler and Kenan, who love what they do and are all about the education and conservation side of things. Yes Chandler is a character. But if he was a bland/boring youtuber talking about snakes and crocs, how many people tune in? Maybe you and other credible animal keepers on KZbin and outside of KZbin (social media) should put together a formal video speaking to your passion for conservation and why you guys need to keep going and include it as part of the petition submission. You are the first and only animal channel I watch on KZbin. One day your channel popped up on my feed because I am interested in gardening and homesteading. I never had an interest in reptiles, but I deeply respect them and all other animals. After watching many of your videos, old and new, my respect for our animal siblings has grown much more profound. I wish I lived in Florida so I could sign the petition, but I'll do what I can to help in the cause. Thank you for heightening my appreciation for reptiles.

I made a comment regarding what some of the reckless behavior regarding keeping large reptiles out there (on a paleontology-related video no less, I was drawing comparisons). I feel many of these guys get some of these species and are reckless with them to prop up their egos, without regard to the impact it will have on the rest of the community. I feel that at least in Florida a required permit for some of the established or risk of establishment species may be necessary to dissuade people like this, especially with a mentorship program included. Keep up the good work Kenan!

Kenan, I really respect your diplomacy discussing responsible reptile keeping. You present the situation, the dangers, and the potential ramifications so clearly and extensively (beyond just a single aspect or ...situation...). I truly learned a lot about potential impacts this can have not only on the reptile keeping community, but on wild reptile populations (uptick in illegal trade, more IRRESPONSIBLE keepers rather than responsibly obtained owners, etc.). Your idea of a mentor/licensing program (like for falconers) sounds intriguing if it could be successfully implemented. Not only might it help ensure only seriously dedicated owners would have these animals, but they would be well trained and monitored for proper care, secure keeping, and inventory maintenance (so they can't just release animals they no longer feel like keeping). I don't love bureaucracy and endless hoops to jump thru. However, if it leads to more responsible reptile keeping and protects the wild populations, it's worth the hassle--these majestic animals deserve no less!

Kenan, you are a blessing and true inspiration to the reptile keeper community. You give your animals top-notch care, making sure they have enrichment and beauty surrounding them (I very much believe that matters to them!), not just the bare minimum. You educate your audience w/ informative AND genuine experiences, and help learn from your mistakes as well as victories. Most of all, you clearly LOVE your animals like family, not just a means for views or academic interest. You respect them as individuals as well as the impact keeping them *responsibly* has on their future as pets and the global populations as a whole. You live a blessed life: a loving family, a dream job, supportive parents who obviously raised you well (tenacity, integrity, intelligence, and diplomacy--in a world so sorely lacking thereof)! Despite what some might argue, I watch ALOT of KZbin channels probably more than I should lol But if the question "how do you know about what's going on with fish and wildlife in Florida" was presented to me my instant answer is this channel. Period. Kennan has spent a lot of time beating the drum for all exotic keepers.
@Shadowspets2 жыл бұрын
Kenan, i completely understand why Florida Fish and Wildlife wants the have tight rules around keeping exotic animals. A lot of people are so used to keeping exotics that they forgot that it is a priviledge to keep these animals. They dont treat them with the proper respect anymore. I used to be a big fan of Chandlers channel, he was educative, reminded us constantly that we need to preserve these animals for the future and respect them. But his content has changed to the more thrill seeking type where he is constantly scream and taking unnecessary risks. He even jumped into a muddy pool with a hybrid croc. A hybrid that is know not to mess with and water so merky you couldnt even see the animal. Logically he got bit. And that is just a sad case, because a lot of these reptiles already have a bad reputation for a lot of people who dont know any better. The kamp is a prime example of how the animals SHOULD be kept, keep educating and enjoying your animals Kenan. Been a viewer for many years now

I understand to a point, Fla Fish and Wildlife taking action against invasive species and fears of more ruining the native wildlife population and ecosystem, but banning non-native species in their entirety is not the answer. Perhaps something like Licensing or Registering non-native animals on an annual basis, sort of like vehicles would be feasible. There must be better solutions than a total ban. You are right on with your views, warnings and concerns. Responsibility of the keepers and caregivers is of utmost priority, but being able to enforce it is where the problem lies. I don’t live in Florida, but I love watching your videos! I also believe if FFWC passes these new rules and regulations, it won’t be long before other states jump on their bandwagon. In their view, the best way to avoid potential problems is to not allow the possibility of a problem to start with. But I truly believe that is an infringement of our rights if they dictate the types of pets, animals or zoos we can have. Your beautiful camp, care and concern for your animals is second to none. Speaking of concern, when and if you feel Sweet Bobby Robinho is suffering, please put him down. Your excellent care is the only thing that has let him survive to this point, but when his quality of life is poor, with no improvement, or even worsening, It’s time to not let him suffer anymore. It would be a sad day for us all, but a true act of love and kindness on your part to end the suffering. Chin up, Kenan, fight hard, keep on keeping on. Love your message. ❤️❤️❤️

I don't own any animal (pet nor reptile nor anything) yet, but there was the same kind of deal going on here in Europe or at least in France... I am 100% for captive breeding, conservation programs, zoos etc, but I am quite in favor of more regulations. Not bans of course, no retro-active things, but for any future adoption, having at least a tracking of all animals (for escapes for instance), require higher standards, even maybe a minimal education for new owners etc would be a good thing. From here in Europe, reading all these awesome herps groups and so on is nice, but I also feel quite weird that everyone gets to keep lizards or snakes, instagram them, find them cute etc... most do it well on these groups, but it also shows how easy it is to get these animals, and how little knowledge you require, mass breeding for the sake of cuteness, morphs (cf what we did with some dog breeds)... So I hope things get sorted out for the best for everyone, but always the best for animals, and as in many fields, a more paced approach could be nice, less "consumer" society :)

Kenan obviously does an excellent job of promoting responsible husbandry. Jerry does great work. Many KZbin channels that focus on exotic animals, not just reptiles, do sensational garbage for clicks while ignoring safety and escape concerns. I hope the petition does what it sets out to do, but if it fails, Kenan needs to get some certification as doing zoological and ecological work that goes beyond just pet ownership.

Pinky swallowed that second chicken leg so quickly! What amazing animals you have! I agree 100% with everything you’ve said about wildlife conservation and how the Department of Fish and Wildlife is taking liberties that they shouldn’t be taking. We, as the ones keeping the reptiles, amphibians, and other exotic animals, should have a say in what is going to happen with the animals we have and the animals we want to get. Like you said, many of us are focused on education and the conservation of these beautiful exotic animals. If not for the people keeping these animals, many of them are going to be in danger of extinction, and that’s if they’re not already endangered. We’re supposed to be a democratic country, yet more often than not we have no say in what rules and regulations are put into effect in any situation and are forced to follow laws and regulations that we didn’t even get to vote on or otherwise have any say in whether it’s passed or not. How can we trust our governmental organizations if they don’t let us have any kind of input on what laws are put into action regarding our lives and the lives of our animals? I don’t live in Florida, but I have family there that own exotic animals from tiny amphibians to reptiles to ferrets. I cannot condone an organization that refuses to allow the people keeping these animals to have any kind of say in what happens with them or if they can even keep them any longer when a good portion of exotic animal keepers have been keeping them responsibly for years! If you ask me, America is slowly becoming more like a dictatorship run by the wealthy and influential people in the country rather than the democracy we’re supposed to be. There’s no “voice of the people” any more, only the “voice of the powerful few” and that, to me, is not only unfair but it’s also unAmerican and unnecessary. We’re perfectly capable of policing ourselves and figuring out ways to keep non native species from getting footholds in areas that aren’t “natural” habitats for them. Why not allow us to offer ideas on how to keep things like that from happening at the very least? We’re not stupid people. America was founded on the principal of freedom and we’re losing those freedoms one by one as the government tries to box us in with laws and regulations until we’re unable to make any decisions for ourselves about anything. What’s next? We’re not allowed to pick out our own clothes? Maybe they’ll start telling us what we can and can’t eat next. Freedom is no longer free and hasn’t been in quite some time. We’re being punished for the sins of the few and it makes me sick to think that a few bad apples are ruining things for everyone. Thanks for speaking out on this issue Kenan. I’m with you 100%. Good luck to you and the other Floridian keepers and I sincerely hope the people in power will reconsider these unjust laws and find a better solution to the problems we’ve encountered in this “hobby” for lack of a better word.

yeah they blame the animals instead of the irresponsible people. instead of bans they should be having a blacklist where if an animal escapes from someone 1 or 2 times the person gets put on a blacklist. and they cannot keep that family of animals anymore. i think that is the best way to deal with this

Yes it's funny how your government wants to make a bunch of laws that really don't protect you other than to regulate the type of creatures you own but when it comes to assault weapons that kill thousands of people a year all you hear is crickets. Just seems ridiculous to me. ✌🇨🇦🐢🦎🐊🐍

@@theflyingdutchguy9870 That’s a very good idea! Trying to enforce it would be a challenge, but if we can figure it out, a blacklist would be a great way to help lessen the negative consequences of exotic animal keeping. Well done, sir! ☺️👍🏻

Keep up the good work and I def think Fred is watching over you and enjoying the care you are giving his animals 🐢🐊🐍

I'm lucky to have space and the money to keep reptiles including the Asian Water monitor.. but it costs a tonne to do properly.. keep up the great work Kenan. Love from North Devon, England x

I like how you were respectful of both points of view on the new laws. It’s to bad that they are no longer working with you. I think a lot could be accomplished if everyone could work together to protect the animals and the environment. However permits for certain animals should definitely be required for the safety of the animals, people, and environment.

Kenan, you have made me nervous before but I always felt you knew what you were doing. I understand Kate being nervous about her husband being in with the alligators too. But she also knew who you were when she married you. She started having a good time helping you with those baby snakes and relocating them in your yard with the kids. We need people like you who care so much to the point you'll be more careful to make sure there is no way your reptile family can be taken from you. I'd love Bobby Rabino to get a little more time, but at the same time you're the one right there watching him, his body language, and how he's truly doing. I'll abide with whatever decision you make even if it hurts. You want all of your charges to have lives that you know they're happy with. You've known Bobby a long time. I know you won't take him out of the game if it's not the right thing. At the same time, you won't let him suffer either. That's huge. Thanks Kenan and Co. You're amazing and we're lucky to have you here for ourselves and for these animals. Take care!

Chandler unfortunately lately has been kinda acting stupid for lack better words and making it look like a joke drinking and acting not responsibly while handling these dangerous wonderful dinosaurs and it looks bad on you other keepers in FLA .. sorry but those are facts he’s publicity for why they are shutting it down they think all keepers act like this these are amazing creatures an should be treated as such. Not just clickbait an trying to put on a show boozing acting foolish risking life & limbs - gotta remember you’re the voices of this hobby and lifestyle act like you’ve been there before •

What you have done to your home for the benefit of these animals is amazing as I've watched, it is totally different. I cant see fwc ruining their reputation and relationship with responsible keepers such as yourself.

I think keeping large monitor species, with the goal of increasing captive bred availability, is admirable and should be given license by Florida fish and wildlife. I honestly don’t feel a private breeder should be allowed to keep alligators…they aren’t endangered, and they should not be sold for private collections. The only thing endangered is the keeper and his family/staff. But Kenen’s right, most monitor species won’t survive in Florida’s wild, so why limit them?

FWC acts like everyone that keeps exotics are not normal and have a problem! It's sad and they create this narrative that many of us are not good people and keep these animals to feed our egos! Not only good husbandry but stewardship is necessary to maintain these creatures properly and have them thrive and that is what drives our passion for these creatures that come from far away places!

I was just suggesting in a comment that maybe Kenan should find a home for Bobby who takes care of special needs animals. Since he has so many animals to take care of he might not have the time to properly take care of Bobby since it seems like he needs special treatment. And I would hate for anything bad to happen to Bobby just because of everything he's been through and has been affected by through no fault of his own 😔
