Yakuza, known in Japan as Ryū ga Gotoku (龍が如く, Like a Dragon), is an action-adventure beat 'em up video game franchise created, owned and published by Sega. The series originated from Toshihiro Nagoshi's desire to create a game that would tell the way of life of the yakuza. Nagoshi initially struggled to find a platform for the project, until Sony showed interest in the prospect.
The series primarily focuses on the yakuza Kazuma Kiryu from the Tojo Clan. While Kiryu often assists the Tojo Clan, the series has also featured him searching for another way of life in the form of raising orphans. The gameplay of Yakuza has the player controlling Kiryu (or another character depending on the title) in an open district where he can encounter an enemy or perform an activity in the city to obtain experience.
The franchise has become a commercial and critical success, and as of 2020, Sega has reported that the Yakuza franchise has sold a combined total of 12 million units in physical and digital sales since its debut in 2005. Strong sales of the games in its original Japanese market has led to the franchise's expansion to other media, including film adaptations.

There are also several spin-off titles. One, Kenzan!, relates Kazuma Kiryu's supposed ancestor, historic figure Miyamoto Musashi from the 16th and 17th centuries; another, Dead Souls, follows a zombie invasion of Kamurocho, the primary setting for the series; a PlayStation Portable spinoff series, Kurohyō, is about a teenage street fighter from Kamurocho that ends up in a fight where he kills a Tojo clan yakuza.

guy moves like a truck, but hits like a fucking tank. absolutely brutal damage, and spongy to damage all around makes Saejima my automatic favorite character in Y4. the thrill and satisfaction of absolutely mashing the absolute brains out of goons on streets with Saejima is next-to-none. and the fight music is fire, probably the best out of the four (Akiyama is a close second). it gets the blood pumping, and emblematic of the sheer strength of Saejima.

saejima is probably my favorite character in all of the series. he's a cold, blunt guy who expresses his opinions without caring much, and he's very straightforward. however, he's actually a real sensitive and soft guy inside, shown by how regretful he was for "killing" those 18 men. making him cool in an unique way. he has a intimidating appearance, very large and muscular. but my favorite thing has gotta be his fighting style. it's much simpler than the other character's fighting styles, however, the ability to charge your combo hits just makes it for me. and the sheer destruction his charged blows can cause is really incredible. even the wrestler and fatass dudes can just bounce like fucking pillows at the impact of his hits. saejima just takes the "mighty glacier" trope and just makes it somehow better in every way.

Saejima is almost always associated with cold, ice, and snow. He wears a big ass winter coat basically 24/7, the prison he's in during 5 is snowy along with the forest where he spends a lot of the game, the city (Tsukimino) he roams in is also snowy, he gets access to things like a heat action where he turns someone into a snow man, and for some reason in yakuza 7 he's weak to ice (which is really counterintuitive considering that a big winter coat should let him resist ice and Majima being shirtless should be resistant to heat but I digress)
