Well, not so fast in criticizing that FB group. . . according to the PETA website -- "Provide at least 24 square inches of water for every 1 inch of fish." So, 2 guppies in like a 4'x4' tank? Oh wait, I get it, they said "24 square inches". Volume is typically measured in cubic inches/feet. So, I guess I can overstock my tank by stacking my fish right on top of each other, just not side-by-side. I get it now, they only need elbow room.

In my opinion you can keep 300 guppys in a 20 gal as long as you’re keeping up on water changes. You can also keep a betta in a 3 gal, and breed smaller tetras in less than 5 gals. All about water quality, with keeping in mind they also need to move lol.
@MichaelsFishRoom2 жыл бұрын
Yup, but don’t tell them that!

@@gem9535 I mean, where’s the proof?
@njmoonfrost61452 жыл бұрын
But smaller tanks mean you will have to do water changes more than you would with a five gallon or more. And if you have large groups in a smaller tank then you also have to do more water changes too as well.
@hayleyvox2 жыл бұрын
@@njmoonfrost6145 yes, that’s why i said it’s all about water quality. As long as the fish can swim around happily and have enough space to thrive you can keep them in anything if you keep up on water changes. Like I said, I’ve seen 300 guppies in a 20 gallon thriving. Obviously not saying a beginner should ever do this, but it can and has been done.

And I have breed these fish through a couple of times and they are breeding true and have sold a couple here and there but what I really wanna know is. that is this type of thing common to mix two fish and then all of the sudden u have made a new strain of fish?
