If someone who is nature-savy becomes homeless, he will never allow his campsite to look like this. And, he will live off the land because he knows how to survive. He will hunt for food. Forage for berries. Know the weather. A man about nature. Give a drug addict a fishing pole and he'll try to pawn it off to get money for booze and drugs. And, you end up with filthy campsite like this. The addicts will never survive. The survivalist will live off the land and strive.

I was wondering when you would profile Cocoa. I wonder if that camp is the giant one off King Street heading west to I-95? Used to ride horses all back in the woods, always homeless camps. They're moving people out like crazy due to the builders gobbling up every piece of land.

@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS addicts are a large portion of the homeless, but now it's families and locals priced out of the new housing and rents are unaffordable. I live out of my trailer camper. I'm on private property but it's been sold. I'm having a tough time even finding an affordable RV park and I have to stay here for my elderly father. It's ridiculous.

I live nearby and own land. On a few occasions over the last 10 years I found some “ things” on my property. Depending on the items and location, I dumped stuff into a commercial dumpster, set fire to things too big to move (0n wet, rainy days) and sprayed 10% pepper bear repellent on all mattresses. Only things on my property were touched. I only had to do one place twice. On property with actual commercial locations, I had all outside outlets turned off to eliminate charging cell phones. Anyone found would be trespassed by a very efficient sheriffs dept. We have a great Sheriff that gets things done. It’s easy to blame others, but owners need to care about their own property. As noted in the video, when they believe they are being watched, they move. I would also like to say, I have been here since 1968 and never considered the entire city of Cocoa as dangerous. There are a few neighborhoods that I avoid but they are fairly well defined and the rest of Cocoa is pretty normal. Cocoa got stuck with the majority of low cost or free housing which caused most of their issues. Their police try hard and are not lazy. It’s just part of todays social issues.

I got stuck with a neighbor who I think used to be homeless and somehow got a bleeding heart slumlord Canadian to rent to him. The yard has become a dump and the entire neighborhood is pissed, but there's not much that can be done. Code enforcement fines but the slumlord just pays it.

Because they are whacked out of their mind. I've encountered plenty in the city alone. They usually beg and beg. On the way in and on the way out. Some are nice. Some will curse at you for not giving them spare change. Had a lady arguing with herself while I was doing laundry. She kept opening the door and turning around to yelll at someone who wasn't there. Goes into the laundromat and peers inside the dryer. I don't know what she expect to find in an empty dryer. She does this repeateldly. And then she goes out and yells at the unseen person again. Cursing at this non-entity. It was until she laid her hand on some lady that the cop was called. They came. Sat her down She kept pointing at something and telling the police to go arrest that unseen person instead. What a strange day that was.

It appears these homeless people have a death wish, which is sad. Solving the problem by locking them all up, or creating housing for all of them, costs money that society does not want to spend. The result is these places will exist.

Creating housing for drug addict homeless people which the majority of them are will not fix the problem. Getting them off drugs will but it takes an effort on their part to try and that's the problem. Many homeless drug addicts just want to stay on drugs.

@RhinoXpress

@@asielmilian38 and how many homeless are down on their luck vs how many homeless are drug addicts? I used to work with an outreach program and based on all my experience, the ones that were down on their luck accepted help, because they weren't drug addicts. Why is that important? Because if you want help, then you have to commit to stopping your drug addiction by going into a drug rehab program first. This is where 99% of homeless drug addicts, that I have ever encountered refused help, because they knew they would have to be enrolled into a drug rehab program as part of the help they were going to get. The people I came across that refused help would rather remain homeless and stay on drugs, then to get help and become apart of society. That's the sad reality.

They can carry a full bottle in, but can't carry an empty bottle out. There was a camp in Jensen where they would gather to drink. It was about 200 feet from an open dumpster where they could put their empties. But no, there was a mountainous pile of empty bottles they kept behind a wall. There was some sort of pride going on with the amount of pollution & the fact that they could dispose of it but chose not to.

Another great job. Cocoa is one of the crapiest cities in the entire state of Florida. The whole entire city is run down and unattractive, it's really the heart of the drug problem in Brevard county. The only nice area in the entire city is downtown. I sometimes go to Merritt Island and the beaches over there and I often have to drive 520 into Cocoa, and the vibe is just economically sad driving into what was once a thriving town. With Brevard being the 10th most populated county in Florida, there's so many run down areas throughout the county.
