In a Dark Dream made me buy everything I could find from Charles L Grant. Around 40+ books that is. He is very good at the quiet horror/dread creeping up.

A lot of his cover art implies that, and I love it. I'd love to find a copy of After Midnight someday, the cover is beautiful.

Andrew Neiderman also wrote a book called Pin, which is fantastic. I'd say that's a must-read if you're into vintage horror paperbacks or horror fiction that is on the weirder and more cerebral side. He was also the ghost writer who wrote half of VC Andrews' books after her death. Pin also has a pretty good stepback cover. There's even a movie.

That's where I remember the name from! I'm still after a copy of Pin. The stepback art is incredible, and I've heard the story is very disturbing.

Besides Servants of Twilight, Whispers, Intensity, Phantoms, Twilight Eyes are also sure bets. Enjoy.

Servants of Twilight by Koontz is a perfect starting point for him. In Darkness Waiting by John Shirley and Picture of Evil are both excellent!

Glad to hear all the praise for these books! Definitely think I'll get to Koontz next year.

Excellent scores! I have a few of those but the only one of the bunch I've read is the Shades of Evil by Hugh B Cave. It was a cool voodoo story. Had a kind of X-File monster of the week vibe. He wrote a bunch of horror novels having to deal with voodoo.

I haven't read anything by him myself, but I just absolutely love his name. It just rolls off the tongue so well, haha. Thanks for watching!

I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream is a classic story by Harlan Ellison. I read that Barbara Hambly book last year and would definitely recommend it.

I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream has been one I've wanted to read since rediscovering reading years back. I think I'm going to get to it this year. Thanks for the recommendation! I'll be sure to keep it aside!

Found this randomly, cool haul you got. I can’t believe you only have one Masterton book out of over 900. I wish I had more but I refuse to buy online and my only used bookstore is pretty lame when it comes to horror paperbacks. I’m mostly a vhs collector. The only paperbacks I own right now are: - The Apparition by George Bishop - The Night Caller by Brennan Patrick - Oktober by Stephen Gallagher - Children of the Shroud by Garfield Reeves Stevens - Living Things by John Russo - Hocus Pocus by Jack Scaparro - Feast by Graham Masterton - The Djinn by Graham Masterton

@pigboss5786 All good, man! We've all done it! Super cool you're a VHS collector! A close friend of mine is also a VHS collector, mainly horror, and it's like walking into a Blockbuster catered specifically to my tastes, haha. I've got a few VHS myself, but nothing rare. I don't think, at least. I've got a copy of JAWS that seems to be lacking any usual markings on the sleeve. It's pretty much just the painting and the title.

Dude! I love it! What a great video! F. Paul's work is phenomenal, and he actually did the line-edits on my first novella! He's a great guy, and Ray Garton also is a really nice man. Awesome finds! I wonder if you've read F. Paul's Repairman Jack series? He weaves together certain characters from "The Keep" with the character of Jack, who "fixes" problems for people around NYC. Fantastic stories! Rock on, and thank you!!
@littlelibraryofhorrors8 ай бұрын
I actually haven't read any of his work yet, but I've had a ton of people tell me I need to read The Keep, so I'm planning on checking that out this year. That's awesome he worked on your novella! What's it called? I'd love to check it out. Thanks so much for the incredibly kind words and your time!

When hearing you say you have issues with mixing other genres with horror I find that interesting because horror is kind of inherently a subgenre. All horror is either science fiction/horror, fantasy/horror, or crime/horror. Some are just a bit more obvious than others. Just food for thought.
@littlelibraryofhorrors7 ай бұрын
What I meant by that was, I don't like when an author tries to make the story very real and grounded, and then just throws in this element of the supernatural seemingly out of nowhere. Like Rose Madder by King.
@Pwruss258 ай бұрын
Some really good stuff there! What’s the best way to inquire about a trade? Also, are there any Koontz or King titles you need? I am going to a huge bookstore that has tons of their stuff. Some of the Koontz is less than a dollar.
@littlelibraryofhorrors8 ай бұрын
Check out the Facebook group Retro Horror Paperback Art and reach me from there! I can send you a picture of what I have for trade. As far as King and Koontz, I've pretty much got most of their work. The only thing I'd really need is a hardcover of The Green Mile.

@@littlelibraryofhorrors look out for his other books of that era. The Heirloom, Devils of D-Day and Wells of Hell. Fun pulpy nonsense especially that last one
@littlelibraryofhorrors4 ай бұрын
@squashchefan Absolutely! In my latest video, I found a copy of his book, Condor, and I was over the moon. The cover and concept are both wild and I can't wait to dive in. Sometimes it's nice to take a break from the macabre and hop into the absurd for a breather.

Terry Brooks and Terry Prachett are both renowed fantasy authors!! Brooks wrote the Shannara series and Prachett wrote the Discworld series!! I didn't care too much for Carrion Comfort either! So boring, it took me forever to read it!! Its so overrated!! The Keep by F.Paul Wilson is great!! The others look good too!!
