I'm just glad that you are not alone, and Jonathan is keeping you company. He's a true brick! I was horrified when I tried to shop in Waitrose only to be told I had to use something called "kashownlee". The customer service lady was so nice and polite and patient, but I had no idea what was going on. I tried to call for help from a manager but it seemed to cause a scene. Oh it was terrible. My sister led me away to a machine called an "a-tee-em" but the crowd found this all so shocking and certainly they were in shock, I could see, as they were pointing and laughing quite hysterically, at me? In the end my sis said I should "try to calm down" and stop "making a fuss" and she would pay and I could transfer the money to her via my phone. What a relief!

Our teleprompters weren't even working, so our hosts had to just wing it from notes and producers literally texting them on their phones. Thankfully the graphics systems were working, so they had lower thirds, and they also managed to get in a couple of remote interviews with experts. I'm guessing they were using Macs. At least it wasn't as bad as Sky News, for about an hour they just had the same clip playing of the host wandering around the studio pointing at things that weren't working while talking about the problem, and gesturing to the giant blue screen on the video wall behind the news desk.

I showed this to my husband last night when he finally arrived home after 4 straight days at hospital mostly fixing the IT issues, but had an A&E aka ER shift in the middle of all that true IT joy. ​@cantin8697It seems that it was majorly caused by CrowdStrike, so if you don't use that you're in the clear. On top, an Azure region had issues, possibly as a side effect of abnormal traffic from the first issue, but this isn't confirmed.

If you're not familiar with the idea of different OSes and what software is available for which OS, I'd strongly advise you to do some background reading so you understand what's possible and can work out what you want out of them. If you then want to explore Linux without changing anything at first, look up how to make a Linux Mint boot USB drive.
