In this video, we start the Tamiya Juggernaut 2 Ford F-350 RC Monster Truck restoration project. After a quick test run, the project kicks off with a full chassis stripdown ready for cleaning. All the new body parts are in and the decals should arrive shortly. My Jug 2 is in mint condition. It was a very fun kit to build. Indoors and snow, that’s all it’s ever seen. It gets dusted off once a year, lol. The Bullhead has a similar life.

Foam oven cleaner like Mr Muscle will remove the paint from a hard body shell without damaging it. Spray it on, rinse off after a while. Reapply till gone.

Thank you! Excellent video! I just found my old Juggernaut (the first one, the original, the disaster). I got it as christmas gift over 20 years ago when I was 9 or 10 years old (propably 1999 or 2000). Just rebuilding it now. Gears are fucked up so I need to find spares first. 😅👌

You'll have to source the Tamiya Juggernaut care package to replace all the faulty transmission and axle problems that came with the original Juggernaut.

Maybe a Molotow chrome pen could help touch up the chrome bits and make them presentable again. You can get a Molotow chrome refill which works well for airbrushing. Not cheap unfortunately.

I have had to redo hard bodies that had the same paint. I used a sand blaster and w fine sand and it took everything off and cleaned the cracks out. Then I used a primer and panted to box art.

Had one from 1. series (1996?? ) and it broke it's axle pinion gears after one week. Got complete axle replacement but it runs a bit lumpy. Also with modified motors the torque twist was an real issue. Later ESP links were installed and helped a lot with articulation. But it never got the status of the clod Buster. I sold the rig and should never had done it afterwards. 😢

I had both the 1 and 2 when I was a child, kick myself for not keeping hold of it. The leaf suspension was pretty pants though. I remember looking at chassis kits for it.

I am on the road to restore a Robbe Jeep Garbo. Luckily I found one Jeep online and with bigger luck someone who was selling other Robbe products who had one with parts. Wont be easy as I can restore the old electrics. I even found original decals. I am eager to start it.

You would think right. You can get upgraded obviously but the leaf springs are really stiff so I’m not sure how much it would help

Hey Gavin I’m new to the RC world started collecting rc’s at age 36 kinda late, apart of my hobby being a gamer and a gym rat! I want to have a rc collection of my own, I’m into big Monster trucks. In my 2 in a half month span I bought a new tamiya superclod buster both blue and the black edition, a Txt-1, a Txt-2 agrios, and a new juggernaut 2 all new in box not assembled yet! Oh And another used busted up juggernaut 2, Now my problem is I haven’t seen any tutorial videos anywhere of the juggernaut 2 build, your the only one I find, can you pls do a tutorial video on the juggernaut 2? Currently it’s disassembled in a box lol. I picked up the paint for the hard body this week. After the Top Cat project is done I have a Halloween sponsored build planned and then it will be back to the Juggernaut. I now have everything needed so it will be built in November.

I had one of the first kits, very unfortunately, stock it would click the gears in the axle on throttle then they wore out, I took it apart numerous times thinking it was me, ended up sending it back, they knew but were hesitant on the issue so I was pissed, never got to enjoy it after craving a clod buster as a kid 😭

Sounds like you have the first version of Jugg. Was yours black? These would eat gears in one or two batteries and that's why Tamiya released the Jugg 2 only a year later with the issues fixed.

In my opinion the Tamiya Juggernaut is the best monster truck ever made. It’s more scale than the Clodbuster with the Drop transfer case with shaft driven drivetrain. I’ve been wanting one for years and finally found one on eBay that had shelf duty in perfect shape. My cash for it was just the right timing when it was listed. I paid $1000.00 plus shipping for it. I’ll have 2K in it when I’m done with her. I don’t understand why Tamiya doesn’t have a rerelease of the Jugg? What are your thoughts? Also what’s the difference in the F350 juggernaut body and F350 Hi lift body? Thanks
