My Mom grew up in Watertown/Black River, would tell my brother & I of these epic snowfalls. We grew up in Maine where we'd had some remarkable blizzards, but the frequency of these lake effect snowfalls topped them with amounts in feet! Enjoyed, thanks for sharing...

My grandmothers brother from Norway moved to Parish NY because the climate and weather matched Norwegian weather. They are gone now but I remember when they got 150" if snow in like two weeks - they were in their 90s and were stuck in their house I would get claustophobic with this amount of snow

130 degrees Fahrenheit. It was so hot here this summer. And now in January there is still no snow. The flowers in the garden are alive. Although it was usually - 30 Fahrenheit.

Living in Buffalo all my life, by the way we have no snow, just green grass, Lake effect snow is a way of life, just as hurricanes in Florida, Earthquakes and fires in California, Tornadoes in the Midwest are a way of life . The major difference is you always have a good amount of time to prepare before a storm hits and you clean up(takes less time than you think). And life goes on normally. My house is still here and residual effects last only days, not weeks or months. Sure snow is a pain but when I think of the alternatives, I’ll take it.
@Naturefourseasons11 күн бұрын
Snow will soon be a luxury. The day before yesterday I saw a live bee in my garden. It's incredible. Global warming is very strong. There hasn't been any snow since the beginning of the year. And last year there was snow only for a week during the whole winter.

This one is about 150 miles east of Buffalo. I live in the heart of Buffalo and total this year we got only about 6 in of snow. South of the city is where this years highest accumulations were so far. Lake effect snow is quite different from what you get in Dayton. Wind direction is everything.
