I'm a Sailor and was stationed on the USS Guam LPH-9 (Iwo Jima Class) also a Plank Owner (Decomissioning Crew) and when I saw this I am just amazed at the dedication of the build. That LHD is awesome and so much detail, I am just in awe. I liked seeing all of the aircraft and would have liked to have seen some CH-46's but seeing the CIWS mounts is awesome. If they open another round for Plank Owners I would love to be a part of it.

Amazing to see this build coming along! So glad I got to contribute to this incredible creation & become a Brickmania Plank Owner. It’s awesome seeing all of the aircraft on the deck now. Former sailor here. Love what you guys have done! Knew some people that were on the Makin. A few things: First that green camo uniform is what we call guac-oflage because it looks like guacamole. That uniform used to be exclusive to special forces and people attached to them (like intel spooks, tech/gadget guys, mechanics, etc). Apparently since I got out that uniform has now replaced the Navy Working Uniform or the NWU, that blue camo pattern which I thought looked more Navy than that green pole pattern, but we gotta be more like the ground pounders, I guess. However, unless things have changed that dramatically since I've been out, sailors wear blue coveralls while out to sea. The camo uniform is a shoreside only thing. Second, that RHIB (or Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat) you said the SEALs use is also the typical launch boat for most surface vessels. While they have "inflatable" in the name, they are constantly in the same shape. They're actually pretty hard rubber and contain large pockets of air within them to give extra buoyancy while transporting people. I got to ride ours a few times for different reasons. It's like a speedboat, and the guy driving is usually kinda nuts. Iirc, the SEALs use a different version from the rest of us, but it's the same kind of craft. Third, it looks amazing! Can't wait to see it completed!

@paxhumana20152 жыл бұрын
@@justinzak5025 , Pascagoula, Chicago, New York City, Boston, San Diego, and several other places might want to disagree with you. Also, the Mistral class is a good 200 feet smaller, as well as is also considerably narrower, many tons lighter, as well as has far fewer features, than the Wasp OR America class amphibious assault ships, thus, even though both classes of ships are slower and heavier than the Mistral class, they are also way more versatile than the Mistral class could ever hope to be in their time of need. Moreover, France has far fewer naval forces than the USA, thus larger amphibious assault ships would also likewise be needed for a larger naval force for a country that literally has a population that is five to six times larger than the population of France.
