Both the Mew and Ice Rider decks were what allowed me to enter the more competitive side of Pokemon TCG. Although I never joined any tournaments, playing with friends or online made my investment worthwhile. I'm sad, but also excited to see the new meta to develop!

I'm super disappointed with the Gardevoir rotating. I finally get to use it viably and then out the window it goes.

The deck is still seeing play post-rotation in Japan. It’s on the fringes of competitive viability, so not all is lost. However, it no longer is a top-tier deck (at least for the time being).

i'm so happy path of the peak goes out!!! the hardest counter ever against gholdengo+palkia deck D:!!!
@InThirdPerson8 ай бұрын
I really hope Path to the Peak returns. I understand how annoying it can be to lose access to parts of your deck, but I think the card has done wonders for preventing the top decks from completely running away with things. Before path, decks with rule box Pokemon with abilities dominated with no answers for decks that didn’t have those. It’s the only card set for rotation that I want to see come back.

@@InThirdPerson Path going, Avery going, Klara going, Rescue carrier going... these hurt me the most. my main decks in the pokemon TCG lately were all centered around cards that used them, or had a connection to single prizing. we're going into a format where Charizard has no path to slow it down, recovery for single prizers is going to be even slower, and the only good news ive gotten so far is the newer vip pass for my evo decks, but the decks that give the most trouble in the format either benefit from it to or sidestep it like Miraidon can.

Poor fusion eiscue, its staying in but one of it's attacks are no longer useable.
@shinyocelot04archive8 ай бұрын
Fusion Eiscue is an E block card despite being released in Brilliant Stars. In Japan it originated from VMAX Climax, which is where most of our Trainer/Galarian Gallery cards came from.

I love that the term "mill" is being used for playstyles that discard cards from the top of a deck in pokemon. It's a term borrowed from the card "millstone" in magic the gathering which puts cards from a player's library (deck) into their graveyard (discard). Mill is a popular term used to describe similar strategies in magic. To my knowledge, there is no millstone in pokemon but I like what the card Pokestop does for self mill.
@manleyfgc79818 ай бұрын
Dude, mill is used in tons of card games and every card game is inspired by magic in some form.
@chartedlife8 ай бұрын
Mill has been around for a long time in Pokemon, after all the Pokemon TCG was originally designed by Wizards of the Coast and has featured a lot of similar effects to Magic cards.

What do you think miraidon decks will use going forward as path to the peak will be rotating
@InThirdPerson8 ай бұрын
Some Miraidon decks have already moved off of Path to the Peak, particularly Peony-based builds that rely on Beach Court or Collapsed Stadium. However, that build has an awful Charizard matchup due to the lack of ability disruption. Not sure what the play will be going forward.

weird time trying to start getting into the physical tcg for the first time.... what should my first deck be? I wanted to play lost zone giratina but it ofc features cards we lose due to rotation.
@InThirdPerson8 ай бұрын
Lost Zone Giratina loses very little to rotation. Basically just Battle VIP Pass and Escape Rope. The former can be replaced with Nest Balls and the new Buddy Poffin, while rope can just be replaced with any other switch card, including the new Prime Catcher.

@@InThirdPerson That was great info man. Tyvm, not so easy to see for a beginner! Guess my choice wasn't that bad then, lets see how good it holds with new metas.
@InThirdPerson8 ай бұрын
No worries! We all start out somewhere and I only went through my first rotation a few years ago. It’s a scary time for newcomers for sure but everything will be okay. Giratina has been a top deck since it launched last year and is arguably at its strongest right now. Lots can happen going forward, but I can’t imagine a world where it falls out of the meta anytime soon.
