Not sure if you noticed, but She and Her Cat art is done by the same mangaka who writes and draws Blue Period. Also the manga for Blue Period is the best start. They skip a lot in the anime in favor of focusing on more of the drama between the characters and less on the actual act of making art. It’s a pretty big disservice unfortunately.

The 6th volume of Wotakoi is so small because it ended up being the last volume of the series. There ended up being a total of 11 volumes in Japan so the final English volume was unable to be a 2-in-1 volume like the others. I love that series and I'm bummed that it is already over.

blue period is such a good series!! I have read up to the fifth volume and it’s amazinggg!!! I was already addicted when I just read up to the first volume. also there’s lots of lgbtq+ representation hope fully this helps! :D

Golden Japonesque feels such like an old-school shojo and I am been very hesitant to add to my collection since forever! Also I just finished watching all of wotakoi and I am obsessed ( I really want to get the BN cover of vol 6) ~ -- and Blue Period is def on top as one of my fave series. As an artist myself I definitely relate to the emotional aspects💙

My experience with Blue Period. Read first and I BEG you to watch the anime. Both are such a beautiful perspective of the art as art forms. It's hard to explain but basically. Read first because of the detail and pacing. PLEASE watch the anime afterward. It takes these details and just pushes them beyond your imagination.

The Blue Period anime is not very good, to be honest. I read a couple volumes of the manga and then watched the first episode of the anime, and they cut out a ton of stuff in the manga. One thing that is very unique about the manga is that the art depicted in it is the actual art of art students who consented to have their art in the manga. It's all credited and everything. Obviously, they could not add this in the anime without changing things, so there are a ton of drawing scenes that are completely cut out. The animation is just not very good, and the artstyle differs a lot from the manga, which is where my main complaint lies. The story is about art and art students, but the anime changed the unique style and simplified it a lot, despite it needing to be visually complex because of the very story line. Anyways, I was disappointed as a manga fan, but if you hadn't read the manga, you would still enjoy it. I'm having a hard time reading the manga though because of the recent news about the author.
