K&M, there's so many travellers out there doing vids of their travels, and it's not all about the destinations, many of us have "been there done that" so nothing new. The Kombi was for me, "the hook", an adventure spirit. To be doing what you're doing in it, though I imagine pretty difficult as an everyday thing is the very reason I came along. The people, your little family and the Kombi, for me, is and remains the main focus. With lots of money, and I can bet OKA's cost a motza, you can do anything, there's lots of folk doing that in all manner of expensive rigs. The Kombi's simplicity spoke of intrepid, light and uncomplicated adventure . Good luck in the new OKA, it won't be so simple to work on in a camping area. My two bobs worth.

Agree with you ... it was a hard decision to “upgrade “ especially outside of the Vw comfort zone .. The oka is needed for the adventures/dreams/ideas we have ... we have pushed the Kombi to its limits .. with the plan to grow the family and to drive around the world we had to change it up .. dont worry the Kombi still have to cross the Simpson and do gunshot and then Zuri has to drive it around aus !! Haha .. all I want is the have Amazing stories to inspire my grandchildren to do anything they put there minds too .. weather you have money or not !

I might be the only one who’s never heard of an OKA but just googled that beast and it looks f**king sick! For long, round the world drives you need something sustainable, you don’t want to be spending all your time and money on repairs. That gets boring real quick. As much as the Kombi is a legendary vehicle you’ve made the right decision to upgrade. So happy you haven’t done a unimog. Those OKA’s have serious badass energy. Woo Hoo - OKAs are the best and most beautiful 4wd ever. Congratulations. I owned one about 12 or so years ago and travelled all over Australia for about 4 years with my partner and 2 yo daughter. They really are fantastic vehicles.

Just came across your OKA handover video, but decided to see the first video in this play list. Subscribed & liked. I can see a table for dining in front of the rear seat(folding down behind driver's seat. Shower & toilet behind rear seats. Lounge are in rear section, & kitchen behind passenger seat along the wall. Good idea about the pop top roof for upstairs beds. My first guess when you said it was relatively unknown and Australian made, was the Perth-based 4WD manufacturer OKA. I did read a while ago that after Dean Robinson took ownership of the OKA brand in 2017 and formed the OKA All Terrain Vehicles company, that they've started making a comeback, after being out of production for nearly 10 years. I'm familiar with the OKA as a couple are/were being used as 4WD tourist buses on Stockton Beach. Congratulations, and looking forward to your new rig build.

OKA have been a WA manufacturer of the vehicles for yonks! I’m 60 and have known about them for around 30 years… I like things that are not the norm… and engineered more than needed! For the cost well worth it and easier to maintain than a std nee-sun it Yota ! awesome guys … cannot wait!

The best part about turning an OKA into a camper/motorhome is the rigid frame and suspension set-up which all but eliminates torsion forces upon the body. And they ride on sealed roads like they're on a cushion of air. Try a long sealed road trip in a Mog and see how you feel after you finish the trip.

Hi guys, I done my apprenticeship on air cooled Volkswagens, so the interest for me was you putting your beast through some of the toughest predicaments I have seen a Kombi go through, great stuff. Unfortunately I have also worked on the Oka, originally mostly built for the mines, so I know them reasonably well. The interest is not there for me now but I hope you keep having some fantastic adventures.

Noted your Fire to Fork wind cheater you were wearing Karstan .We follow Harry and met him at the Perth 4wd and Camping Show this year and it was Harry who told us we should follow you guys . Hence watching you and your kombi since as well as catching up on your previous episodes . We did a day trip in a 12 seater Oka … the mail run from Cooper Pedy to William Creek , Oodnadatta and back to Cooper Pedy calling in at 5 stations in 2010 . Awesome ride , great experience . I have the Allison 1000 in my 2500HD Duramax. It has 350,000 hard miles towing/offroad/drag racing and has never been opened up. You will NEVER break that transmission behind that little 4.5 Cummins. That being said, seeing if the kombi was going to break and how hard you'd push it was the main reason I watched the channel. I can tell Karstan is a real VW guy, so it must've been a huge burden to make the jump. We get extremely attached to our VW'S.

Only been following you guys for couole months but pretty sure you like more the feel and sound of driving as opposed to too much electronic. Reckon you will be disappointed having push button transmission. Hate the one in my truck cause you can’t just put your hand on stick and feel your hand move where you need it. Stick gives you better feel and control and don’t need to take your eyes off road as much. Great job on getting it done 👍 Be looking forward to greater travelling journeys.

We just spent this weekend in our Kombi, with 2 huge dogs ...engine trouble , roads blocked , fuel prices through the roof...just a typical Kombi long weekend really . They arent a long distance pleasure cruiser , not after 50 years of abuse anyway ! No one knows that better than you two and no-one can say that you guys didn't give old German engineering a REAL bloody good crash test so we can't blame you for being ready for a change up. Good luck , we will miss your edge of the seat "Can she do it " content though.

Thats great news, look forward to the build. A few ideas, winches hydraulic with the auto. Also cooking etc. Go diesel for hob / oven, hot water and heating..That way no worries regards gas bottles etc. Especial if taking it off shore...Fridge / freezer. Draw slid units. No loss of cold on opening.. All the best. Go the build..

Congrats on the OKA. glad to see em make a comeback. While I luvved watching you in GAK you were just going to completely wreck it, let alone the time for maintenance you had to do to keep it on the road. No more of that pioneer experience of no ac. Don't bloody blame ya, novelty of that wears of real fast up north. good to see ya going Aussie OKA. Crap all over the Iveco and MAN things out there.

My best mate has one of the original OKA’s that he completely rebuilt and turned into a pop top camper with a 6 litre Cummins. Pretty awesome rigs. Have a squiz at the Lorella Springs episodes on my channel to see it in action. 😉
