The Saab-105G in War Thunder just got a huge buff with the addition of Custom Loadouts. In this video, we go tank hunting with one of the weirdest looking jets in the game.
Sweden in War Thunder was kind of lacking a good CAS option at 8.3 but not anymore. Before the SAAB 105G could either take only cannons or only bombs, not both! But with the new War Thunder patch, you can take a combination giving this plane a much MUCH needed buff! :)

I play a lot of Swedish 8.3 as that’s my current max and I have been for a while, some of the key things some people may not know about this plane are: Before the update it could not carry both cannons and air-air missiles, now it can. Before the update this plane dropped bombs in pairs, now it can drop individually. This makes it significantly more effective for ground pounding and more deadly in air RB too :)

BTW, this thing is a MONSTER in air RB now that it gets custom loadouts. 2x RB24 (Swedish Aim-9B) 2x really powerful cannons that tear planes to shreds, also 2x bombs to do some base damage for free, plus a strike aircraft spawn, so you get to drop bombs safely and be high up, just waiting for your prey… it’s pretty rare to get full uptiers too, uptiers to 8.7 are pretty common but no problem because nobody else has missiles or flares

I wish they allowed testflight for more aircraft... and that you can also experiment with the loadout feature in the testing enviroment without grinding the ranks to a vehicle/aircraft you are not sure will fit your style.

@@biorop638 I guess... there is a way around it I understand; the dev build has all unlocked or allows you to unlock all but I may be wrong here. Just like with World of tanks, there is no test environment only online matches. But the test builds of the game allow you to unlock all vehicles and all features. (by giving you 10 million of the WOT equivalent of golden eagles and 100 million equivalent to silver lions. I'm not sure about the numbers but I remember it beeing something like that)

Loved to see you saw my comment! One more suggestion I have is the Strv 81 and a 7.3 lineup. The Strv got a huge buff on its apds, and it is now ~380 mm of pen. Thanks for the consideration!

Yea all the sabot on L7 cannons (leopard, Cent 3, m60 etc) all got buffed to 350mm of flat pen at 0m, from 303mm at the same range

@@Foxik58 Not a nerf, they have better angle pen, which at that bracket is much more useful; there’s literally only one tank with more than 260mm of flat armour and it’s the T-95 so it doesn’t even matter that the flat pen is less.

Just as a fyi to people, in the opening of the first game, the mg fire isnt for "oh i see you have a machinegun", its requesting you dont go into the cap and wait. Its a very commonly done thing and its generally considered sporting to wait before capping C for your team given you have pretty much zero risk to being killed waiting. Going in early and stopping allies is kinda harsh as you 1) cut allies RP grind and 2) cut allies respawn points.

Okay, your team mate gets clocked early on and couldnt get any cap points? Now your down a guy pretty much. It isnt really that hard to wait for allies on certain maps/flag layout, this is 1 of them.

I was in a game in this and ended up in a 1v9. I had already bombed a base and they had an order. One f9f can for me. I got him then an f104 got him too and then had an f11 in my sights for 3 minutes cuz I ran out of ammo. People underestimate this thing

You were actually able to take the gun pods + the 500lbs bombs before this patch. Obviously you had to pretty much get a direct hit with those unless it was some kind of lightly armored vehicle. Edit: The bombs dropped 2 and 2, so only two drops.

Well... U rarely see a small business jet with ejection seats that's for sure! Yes making enemy fighters to overshoot is the way to play these (all 3) jets, too bad the engine power is non existent. I do miss the AGMs from this one tough.

i know you don't really do CAS videos but i've i feel like no one has done my suggestion before. the mig-21pfm is the only plane in the game with mouse guided missile. you have to keep you cross hair on target so there is no fire and forget, and at its br that makes it hard to use. i think it could be interesting to see in a video.

Ye, fast progress untill you hit rank 7 and have to spade all the overpriced crap (J29F, A29B and J21s) with insane repair costs to research one plane that carries missiles that can barely even compete at their rank. Viggen (AJ37) is solid but only 2 missiles is quite bad, I haven't tried MiG 21 or Draken yet.

Btw I’m not sure if this is a new feature but the air to ground missiles the earlier one can have are proxy fuse so you don’t even need to hit the tank

the cannons on the SAAB are bugged as far as I can tell straight up ground target rounds barely do anything, air target rounds are as expected, but default rounds pen ground units like you wouldnt believe (also it has a ballistic computer :D )

"A fire is nit enough for that" well fires seem to be a lot more deadly in this patch. Not once have I survived a fire in the midtiers since the update and every plane I shot and ignited died. So now I just leave after setting a fire. It is essentially a kill. I believe only once did an enemy survive after burning for atleast 30s. He crashed later probably because of no fuel left.

18 sec "quite long time for expect crew" I get 30 by default 😂 I had a teammate once that landed when I spawned in a fighter, I had to dogfight 3 planes one by one, spent all of my ammo, went back to landing and dude was still repairing. I asked how long it took, it was 2 and a half minutes.

I feel like every match, Gaijin randomly reassigns the muzzle velocity of the 30mm because it's nearly impossible to know how much to lead a target. You are either ahead of or behind it, but never on target.
