Dig up more dirt than necessary just brings up more weed seeds and disturbs the natural cycle of how organic mater ads nutrients to the soil as it breaks down

Those are sweet potatoes, not yams.

I don't think they have any...some of those were very small potatoes but we planted these too late.

Do you till it in the spring? Or how do you prep it for seeds?

No mainly just scratch a line with a hoe for small seeds an kinda hoe a pile up for things like potatoes..then heavy mulch as soon as it comes up..for bigger gardens a little mantis tiller to just till the row where you wanna plant would make it less work 😅 plants are easy just make a little hole every foot🙂
