MASSO G3 CNC Controller build with full ATC Support. Aluminum Test Cut.

Running some test cuts on a custom CNC Controller we built for a client. A mass-market version of this controller is in the works, and we will announce its release on our Instagram page (@VHERSACNC) once it's ready.
The machine in this video is a prototype of our high-speed benchtop CNC milling machines, also in development and soon to be finalized for pre-production.

Thank you. Yes. It's high dense staircase wood slabs from Lowe's. We have been prototyping this machine for some time now and its ready for production. We used the wood gantry uprights to test the Final Z Axis height and clearance from the tool changer.

Thank you. Yes, the gantry riser places were machined out of staircase hardwood for testing Z Clearance, but its sturdy enough for test machining as well.

Thank you. We are busy fine tuning a few parts for the machines mechanics. The controllers (3 versions) are all ready for mass production. Sourcing final parts and enclosures now.

I like that you measure all the tools on the tool setter after grabbing them before running Kern does the same on there machines witch us why there Z hight is always on point ( because the night change slightly every time you put in the tool into the spindle. But that wound mean anything if you measure the length every time you pick up a tool)

Yes.. you are very right. I tried may tool table solutions for accurate Z tool height and this was the best solution for the systems we build currently. Thank you.

@@VHERSACNC btw i see you have wireless conected to the masso is it only runnig localy stored ( on the masso it self/usb key ) or can it also run/grab programs form a shared network folder like a haas cnc can ? just woundering since im planing on picking a masso control up my self and would like to know if it can do that ( since thats one of my fav features i like when i work on a haas )

also i can not recomend dixi chamder mills highly enough ( they are my fav for all non ferrous material's. for ferrous material's i recomend Solid carbide deburring cutter 90° TiAlN)

Sorry for the delay in replying. I missed it. The Masso wireless requires you to have a permanent USB drive connected to the Masso. Then install the Masso Link software on your Mac or PS with windows or Linux. Any Gcode you drag and drop on the Masso Link software automatically appears/copied onto your Masso control/HMI. At the moment, it has not SMB support to grab files via wireless on a windows shared drive.

Nice job buddy! The cuts sound awesome! And really nice facemill on iso 20 tool holder. Where did you get this? I’ve never seen a facemill for iso 20 tool holders that have switchable cutting plates.

Yea buddy.. those facemills are awesome, and we like it a lot because it uses inserts. I got them from a supplier on Aliexpress. They have them in ISO20 and ISO25 From 17mm - 26mm diameter. Here is the link: rb.gy/act8op

The linear rails are 20mm, and the ballscrews are also 20mm @ 10mm pitch.

Yes. you are very right. This was a prototype test, so I increased the the air a bit to blow the chips off tools during the test phase. thanks man.

How did you program Masso so that there is no pause once the ATC spindle grabs the new tool?

Depending on the type of ATC option you choose in the Masso settings, there will or will not be pauses. Also, because this control was meant for a highspeed machine, We also worked with Masso to disable some of the features (sensor wait states) we dont need during tool change.

That is an IS025 Insert facemills. You can get them in ISO20 & ISO25. You can get them here rb.gy/act8op ISO20-M10-011S That one is the M10, it gives you a 21mm cutting diameter. ISO20-M8-011S and that one is the M8, which gives you a 17mm cutting diameter Inserts for Aluminum Blade(Aluminum).

Does masso not support a tool library? Seems like a waste of time to be measuring tools after every tool change. Otherwise very nice machine.

Yes.. the Masso does support a tool library but we have not yet enabled/configured that yet in his test run. Thanks for the complements.

Hi, it's a 3.2Kw 30,000rpm 220v Single phase ATC spindle from one of our suppliers jian-kan. We will soon be offering it as a kit on our website by the end of Q1 this year.
