Love the series! When you are searching for the missing religious artifacts try using the metal detector over tiles, walls ceilings. The tones would be very loud and crisp for those objects.

Simon is truly gifted and a wonderful teacher to Yannis as well your followers. In the USA many home building/remodeling programs have added apprenticeships keeping the trades alive. I have gone from watching "This Old House", "Maine Cabin Builders", etc to an addiction to at least 5 KZbin French Chateau restoration programs and truly ❤ it!

You shouldn't underestimate your video videography skills, Billy. You've learnt a lot from watching Alex, and although there was nothing wrong with your original filming techniques, you appear to have subsequently developed a real flair & no small amount of polish.

So interesting to learn about the European way of plastering and slate tiling. In the US, we don’t “plaster” the whole wall like this, saves a crew time so they can do more jobs. Pretty much tape the seams and screw holes. In lieu of plastering the wall, we prime with a good primer/sealer, one or two coats then whatever paint you want on that. As for roofs, it’s probably 90% roof shingles, 9.5% metal and .5% something else like maybe shaker wood shingles, slate or whatever. A good crew will get all the drywall screwed up in a day and the first tape and mud. Leave to dry overnight, then sand and skim on another coat of mud. Leave over night, sand and prime. If the weather or heat inside is nice you can paint once the primer is dry. A good roofing crew can have you roof stripped, papered and shingled in 3 or 4 hours. Pretty impressive. The perfect day would be a few hours renovation at his cottage (love building projects & getting my hands dirty), then going for a nice long walk metal detecting, then quietly sitting looking at the view with a cheeky glass of something. Windows, doors, paint ceiling and walls (After one to four weeks) tile floors, and fit units and sinks etc., there is still about four to six weeks work to do in the kitchen, but it is looking "more" completed each day!?!

Everything is coming to fruition. The convent kitchen looks amazing. I can’t wait to see the windows fitted. Michael needs to take back what he said about be able to do “something”. He is THE single most talented person I have ever known. Well, I don’t really know him but I do. He can do amazing watercolors, has excellent taste in color, he can refinish a staircase, he can source out products such as the wall paper in the dining room amongst many other things like designing the cottage. I could go on and on. God bless him and his talent. He really is an amazing person. And the cherry on the cake is that he’s dashingly handsome. If I had all that talent and looks, I would rule the world.

You are very lucky to have Simon. I learned how to plaster when we bought an old farm house and re-plastered every room as well as turning a small farm building into a shop. I did the ceilings! The more I did the better I got. It's not easy that's for sure.
