You're doing a fantastic job getting the library to fit into this room properly! It's finally starting to take shape. If it's more cost effective, I think adding plasterboard above the bookcases would be totally fine with some beautiful coving at the top. But if you really want more oak panels above the bookcases, I support that too. I'm really glad you're changing the fabric out with something more bold. Red damask sounds lovely. 😍👏👍🍺

A Dark Green "Damask" would look better, and more calming.

The library is going to look fantastic!! I so look forward to watching it come together. ❤ As an aside, damask is a style of weave (reversible pattern) and silk is a fiber, so you can have silk damask, polyester damask, etc. And you can have silk satin, silk moire, knit silk, etc. Either way, damask backing will look lovely.

I have an idea!!!! You could have tromp l'ouei work above the bookcases showing old French plates, still life, books etc. You could really have fun with it. I'm sure there are art students wanting the practice out there.

Will you be adding power in the old paneling or the new ones that Paddy will be making?

Thought you were going to do a vapor barrier on the exterior walls

Don’t you think the LED in the shelves will look too modern? Haw about sconces on either side of each book shelf and old fashioned bar shaped piano type lights over the shelves. Seems that LED’s will ruin the look. And sconces and bar lamps will break up all the wood with brass or bronze look. Lights like that will add visual interest to the room

It might be too late now, but we would be very happy to host Yanis for Thanksgiving next year if you can help with the air flight. 😊. Happy day of Thanksgiving Billy!

The library's going to be wonderfully finished as you want, Billy. On the plasterboard walls above the oak, you may hang a collection of nice pictures, all around the library groundfloor.

Tbh I think taking the oak all the way up to the ceiling is guilting the lily and feels too heavy. Maybe a lovely wallpaper?

Why no insulation behind the library cupboards when you did behind the mirror?

Great work so far. Is it my imagination or I'm just hearing things but the sound of the blade to the chop saw is beginning to sound dull. It probably requires some sharpening or replacing. Just a suggestion, but would it be bad idea to put insulation between the back of the cabinets and the stone wall?

I know you want to put oak panels on top of the book cases, but what about colour matching the red damask to a red paint and just using a medium large oak casing around the top of the boxes. If the ceiling is going to be white the red will contrast sharply with the ceiling and will make the room look taller. I think it would look sharp in there. In the end you choose of course but could save a few euros. 😊

I am from New Hampshire in the US. I wholeheartedly enjoy watching you transform this amazing historical structure!! I find all of you to be considerate, excellent, knowledgeable hard workers. I’ve looked at other videos, but none are as pleasurable as yours. I look everyday to watch another video. Crack On!!
@proffd9725 сағат бұрын
May I make a recommendation? Don't put the framing next to the walls. Those frames are not supporting the ceiling, so they are unnecessary. It is a waste of resources and your time. Just make sure the outter frames will support the panels.

Instead of expensive wood panelling above the tops of the library units, you could plaster and then find a stunning wallpaper to provide some colour, otherwise the library is just going to be just brown. A glorious turquoise or fuschia pink background would be really fab. Just a suggestion. 🦚🌺
