I've had my A1 Combo for about a month. Got it specifically to do multi color prints. I've spent hours coloring prints so far. I finally pulled my head out so to speak, and ordered a graphics tablet with a pen from XP Pen. Nothing special. My daughter recommended it, and let me try out hers. I was really impressed. What I didn't figure out before watching this video was gap fill or that ability to fill adjacent edges! Thank you for posting this! Made my life a lot easier!

Thank you for the prime tower info. Also that’s a lot of waste filament
@knb02318 күн бұрын
Prime tower also primes the nozzle to get it to the correct pressure needed after changing filament

I love multi-color models that were engineered so you can print the different color pieces with very little waste and assemble when complete. Only some pieces may require swaps where it makes sense. I was printing the feet of a Pokemon bird and it was black with white on the nail tips. For something like that, I just painted the white on the nails (Acrylic paint). Looked great and saved so much print time and waste.
@figuresix19 күн бұрын
Been experimenting instead of prime towers, using that for infill. Have you tried that yet. Works well with similar colors, or dark colors. Saves tons of filament. Great video by the way.

I dropped my flushing volume to 0.6 and haven’t had any problems. Don’t forget that you can also flush filament into infill when using darker colors to save even more time and filament.

Apparently you purge tower can actually be anything you want to print... As long as you don't mind the "colour" it ends up
@Cobalt_1110 күн бұрын
So from the one video do decrease filament waste - is it no longer needed to set the multiplier to 0.5?
@bambamprint10 күн бұрын
@@Cobalt_11 I am making a video on this right now. I would not set to .50 multiplier as you will have bleeding.

Wondering if easier, faster, more cost effective to create a (modular) design that could be printed one color at a time for assembly later ?
@bambamprint6 күн бұрын
That would work of course but not always feasible, obviously.
@loonaticsrunningtheassylum10 күн бұрын
Apparently you can print the poop/purge into either infill.. or your purge tower can be an item that you want printed, that doesn't matter what colour you end up with....

great video, thank you. 1 question: when discovering a mistake was made and painted 1 part the wrong color, how is this corrected without erasing the entire process?

why is my painting in bambu not coloring the gaps with the brush tool. the painting doesn't show much even with the paint bucket tool
@3D-Printerly19 күн бұрын
Solid video! I got the filament color bleeding going from black to white and red to white even though my multiplier was at 1.0. Any suggestions there? I'm guessing increasing the Prime Volume, maybe the width too and leaving the multiplier at 1.0 still right?

I don’t understand the need for a purge tower AND massive pooping when changing filaments. Doesn’t pooping clear out the nozzle? Can you explain why it needs both?
@LukeWalkerLPwalker19 күн бұрын
Same question here.
@Sanctimonial18 күн бұрын
Because the initial purge doesn’t get rid of any extra filament that oozes out, he also mentions it stops streaks and blobs

Thanks for the great videos. What are your thoughts on health risk with 3d printing using PLA. I’m newer to 3d printing seems like there are mixed thoughts in community from PLA is safe to its toxic for your health. A video on your thoughts would be great
@michaels300319 күн бұрын
It is NOT toxic (*), but it creates a chemical exposure. You need to read the safety sheets (where available) rather than look for random opinions on the Internet. Ideally, you would need to ask a doctor experienced with exposures to chemical substances. Prolonged, systematic exposure to "foreign substances" (chemicals, vapors, and particulates) is not good. (*) - I have a few special PLA filaments that contain undisclosed additives. One of them (made by a German chemical company) came with a health warning. The other ones were made in China and probably should have come with warnings. A law/regulation would be needed to correct this. My current printer is in a small bathroom where I can turn the exhaust fan on and partly open a door or window elsewhere to let outside air in. The problem is that it increases indoor humidity most of the time (this is a climate problem).
@LukeWalkerLPwalker19 күн бұрын
Can you explain why a prime tower is necessary if the AMS can already purge/switch filaments without it? It seems unnecessary to me but I’m sure I’m missing something.
@1QKGLH18 күн бұрын
You showed the 4 spools in the AMS Light, AND an extra spool. Does this mean this is actually a 5 color printer?
@thespyk18 күн бұрын
No. To use the extra spool you need to load it manually so the 'AMS' feature doesnt work unless you pause the print and manually load the filament.
@1QKGLH18 күн бұрын
@@thespyk That's what I figured lol. I just hoped I was wrong. I hope Bambu Labs updates the firmware so we can have two AMS units.
@thespyk18 күн бұрын
@@1QKGLH the problem is that the A1 series toolhead feeds the 4 colours in directly. I don't think it's a firmware issue. There is a hardware limitation. You can have 4 AMS units connected to a P1 and X1 series. Practically I don't know why anyone would want that. Those filament changes are soul destroying on the time.
@1QKGLH18 күн бұрын

As much as I like 3-D printing, I really don’t like the waste how some models are printed that can be split down and printed separately rather than a one hit with a load of waste purge material. Say your model the rims could be split and printed separately and with TPU tires printed separately. It’s cool that you can paint. But I think it just increases the waste of plastic. I’m not trying to be negative about it just realistic but cool video nonetheless thanks for posting the video. Really appreciate it and should be helpful to others as well.
@michaels300319 күн бұрын
The maker needs to use his/her own intelligence how to use these tools. With the lack of the IDEX, limited use makes sense for most models (the height-based painting minimizes filament swaps), with detailed painting used for special occasions like Christmas decorations.
@slowcyclist432413 күн бұрын
Nah not an issue most of the time. Filament is pretty cheap, so wasting some filament here and there isn’t an issue. For a consumer it hardly matters when the result is one solid multi colour piece. The larger issue is the time taken to swap filament; that is something that money can’t buy back. TLDR; the wasted plastic doesn’t matter. Being repairing is recognising that It’s so cheap anyway
