Learning calligraphy and hand lettering seems like a great way to develop skill with digital brushes. I was sketching in Procreate on my iPad when I saw this video (using the Technical Pen inking brush), thought it would be a neat experiment to follow along on a new canvas, and glad I did. It gives a concrete way to explore how a brush responds to changes in pressure and even compare brushes. Very cool!

This was incredibly helpful! I've been wanting to learn calligraphy, but have been putting it off bc I had no idea where to start. Thank you for breaking it down so simply! :)

Thanks for your videos as always! I always struggle with capital letters like B, D, E, I, S, (pretty much all the capitals 😅), any tips? A lot of videos I've watched shows the modern looking type of calligraphy with a lot of bounce and I am looking for other creative way to show the letters.

Hello Will! I was just wondering if this technique is feasible for a left-handed artist. I've mastered the gothic calligraphy but only with the help of it having a straight and sturdy structure. Cursive, on the other hand, as you mentioned has a angle to it but it seems to be much easier for right-handed artists.

I'm a leftie. I turn my paper 90⁰ clockwise when I write. Odd but it works

Look and style of letters in your design can communicate different types of messages. It is a job of graphics designers to present certain messages and ideas in the best way possible and in that calligraphy can be a powerful ally.
