I'm probably a little late to ask this, but I was hoping you could answer a quick question if you had the time: While watching some of your older videos, I was very impressed by your custom Elite figures, but the one that stood out to me the most was your Elite Ultra. I have both the Ultra and two new articulation Elites, so I was wondering how you got the Ultra helmet onto the new head molds. Did you do a similar process with your Honor Guard where you hollowed out the helmet and glued it onto the head, or did you have to do some more "severe" modifications to get it on?
@AxiologyStudios
@AxiologyStudios 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Cat Paw, I'm glad you like the elites! You're assumptions appear to be correct, the Elite Ultra was built similarly to how the Honor Guard was created. Though, there were some differences. For one, I didn't bother hollowing out the inside of the Ultra. Instead, I took one of the new style heads and cut it down to shape so that the helmet could be glued on. The reason I did this was because the Ultra's helmet was too small to bother trying to fit around the head of the elite, so cutting the head off of the elite was the best option. I only cut off one shoulder pauldron, and I did so in the same manner as the Honor Guard, then glued it in place. As with the Honor Guard, I used a pair of CoD style arms to give the figure better proportions. The most difficult part was cutting the chest armor. The old style articulation Ultra consisted of a fairly hard plastic, and my x-acto knife had trouble cutting into the small crevices. It took a few hours of work, and was honestly a bit dangerous given the awkward way I had to hold the armor while slowly shaving it away with the blade. After hollowing front section of the armor out as best I could, I tried placing it against the chest of the new articulation elite figure. The armor didn't quite fit, so I had to cut the elite's chest down a bit. This was mostly done through trial and error, where I would cut a little bit off, then see how it looked, then cut some more, and continue on for a while. When It looked good enough, I glued it in place. Also, the back armor was left on from the new style elite, as I didn't change it at all. The final addition to the figure was swapping the upper thigh armor of the new style elite with the original. Hopefully that's helpful! Let me know if you have other questions! :) -Dawson

Keep practicing! I started out knowing _nothing_ , and through practice look where I am. Don't set the goal as "being good", though, as I have determined that goal is unnecessary and won't help. Instead, set a goal of "1 stop motion per day". This is something you can actually see results in and will help you improve. Wishful thinking, unfortunately, doesn't work. You can do it! :)
@PlatinumMan22

I'm really sad, my dad hates it when I make stop-motions and he is always saying "Why don't you be a boxer, climber, runner or something outside? But i want to be an animator, artist or author when i get older. He just hates seeing me on my laptop. )= EDIT: This is also why i don't upload often.
@AxiologyStudios
@AxiologyStudios 6 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to hear that. Is your dad simply concerned about your health? It sounds to me like he's saying you should exercise more often. Personally, I do some light exercising every day (push ups, jumping jacks, a little running, dancing etc.) because, to me, it's fun. Since I don't know what your life is like, I can't give you a perfect answer. However, I would say it's very important to _talk_ with your dad if you have any problems. For example, why do you think your dad wants you to do something more physically active? Ask him if he can explain the reasons why to you. Perhaps you could come up with a solution that makes both you and your dad happy. If you want to learn to create stop motions, a wonderful thing to do to take reference videos. Plenty of professional animators take a camera and go outside to create some videos of themselves moving around. Running, jumping, hopping, throwing things... Anything you can think of, really. Once you have the video, you can use it as a reference to create your stop motions! As a side note, if you want to "be" something (i.e. an animator, artist, author) when you're older, the best time to start is now! So if your passion in life is to draw, start learning right this moment. Don't wait! There are SO many amazing tutorials across KZbin and the Internet in general where you can learn! If you can show your dad your eagerness and enthusiasm to learn, then he might come to an agreement with you. To reiterate, talk to your dad about what he thinks is best for you. Honestly listen to what he has to say, and try to think of a compromise. Hopefully this is helpful for you, and let me know if you have other troubles. If you're interested in learning stop motions, I'd suggest you search KZbin for "Alan Becker's 12 Principles of Animation". The series is based on 2D animation, but the concepts apply to stop motions exactly the same! Take care! -Dawson

Yes, but that's the thing! I am quite fit. He just doesn't understand that my kind of fun is to entertain others or whatever. But he just does not allow me. And I have talked to him about it, but he still doesn't care. Every-time I animate he talked it off me or just does things like sit down and move it over just to bug me. Also I don't have my own room so I have to do it in the kitchen and my mum is always buying me Paint, brushes, toys ect Anyway i wouldn't want you to get stuck it the middle of my life i'll just keep trying. Thanks for the help.

I'm just messing around. I frequently see people beg for likes and subscriptions at the end of their videos, so I'm parroting them in a joking fashion. Clearly (or, hopefully clearly) I can speak English fine. My previous comment saying "[S]orry... only language" was also a joke, as people commonly apologize for their English if they _aren't_ a native speaker, by saying things such as "sorry for my bad English, it's my second language". For this reason, me apologizing for it being my native language is contradictory and meant to be seen as a joke... Ostensibly it didn't work, and now I had to write a massive wall of text to explain everything. :P

I don't like the new articulation Jackal. They reused the Elite Legs, the arms don't have hair, and they also used the same head mold from previous jackals... The old style jackals will have to do. :/

Perhaps, but I already have plenty of jackal figures, and having a new jackal will look out of place compared to the others! :P

What kind of materials do you use for the blood and smoke affects? I know it seems like dumb question but I'm not sure if there's a specific type that works better with the figures and plastic terrain pieces.

Hi Motioned Elite! There's no such thing as dumb questions, only dumb answers. :P Hopefully this answer won't be one of those! So, to create the blood and smoke effects, I use little bits of cotton from a cotton ball. To make it appear like blood, I use a red marker and color it. The great thing is you can color it purple for elites too. It's honestly quite the pain to get the effect to look right, but if you practice it'll be work it. Let me know if you have other questions, I'm always happy to help. Until then, take care! -Dawson

Axiology Studios Thanks mate! I'll get to practising right away. I'm honestly in love with the way you use your lighting, home-made special effects and your sets. Which brings me to another question, where do you get your terrain pieces, like the palm trees, I looked around a bit but I'm probably not using the right key words when searching for them.

The green plasma shot? That was from a transparent mechanical pencil that broke, and I noticed the shard of plastic would make for a nice effect in a stop motion. :)

In your frequently asked questions you mentioned you animated 0.6-0.9. What would the that be in frames per second?
@AxiologyStudios
@AxiologyStudios 6 жыл бұрын
Hi HDH! 0.06 Seconds per Frame ("SPF") is the opposite of Frames per Second (FPS). So, to convert to FPS, simply flip the numerator and denominator. Since we're talking about 1 second, and each frame lasts 0.06 seconds, then we simply do this: 1/0.06 = 16.667 This means, if each image lasts 0.06 seconds, then it takes approximately 17 images to create a second of video. Hence, 17 FPS. Also, just for another comparison, imagine your car going in Miles per Hour. It's a similar concept. 50 mph is essentially saying 50 miles distance for every hour of time that passes. In a similar sense (though I don't believe it's popularly used), one could convert the 50 mph to "hours per mile", which would simply mean taking the reciprocal (i.e. instead of 50/1, do 1/50. Flip the division). 1/50 equals 0.02 "hpm". This number seems obscure, but actually makes sense. What is tells us is that for every mile we drive, it takes up 0.02 of an hour (2%). Regardless, this is weird to think about, so instead multiply the 0.02 times 60 (there are 60 minutes in an hour), and this tells us for every mile we drive, it takes us 1.2 minutes! Hopefully that helps! -Dawson
