Master Class Introduction to Interpretive Description

Interpretive Description was developed over 20 years ago to address the applied knowledge translation needs of researchers working in the health professions and other practice disciplines. It adapts various approaches and techniques originally designed for theoretically-oriented social science inquiry so that they can be taken up in studies designed from the outset to add substance to an evolving body of evidentiary knowledge and have relevance for uptake in the practice domain. This webinar will orient participants to what it means to design studies informed by applied disciplinary epistemology and empower them to integrate their clinical sensibilities into the conduct of studies that translate into meaningful and applicable knowledge.

This is an excellent design for applied degrees but as you describe, there is still considerable resistance, mainly because it is not one of the traditional designs.
