As far as I’m concerned, you have the best collection of sewing tutorials on KZbin. You are an educator at heart. Your love of teaching the rest of us your passion for sewing is so obvious, Karina. I hope you know that your efforts make a big difference for those of us “self-teaching” at home with your tutorials. I know for me, it makes me braver to attempt new skills and I always surprise myself when I follow your tutorials. Things turn out better than I could have expected for a first timer with some of these more challenging makes. And I find myself returning again and again to some tutorials to check that I’m doing it right (your collar and collar stand video for example). The sewing community is so lucky to have you. Your knowledge, your enthusiasm, and your approachable nature make those of us who watch you better all around. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I’m ready to give jeans a try now (gasp)!

I was just discussing sewing jeans with my MIL. The only thing that's held me back (and I've bought patterns, then wimped out) is the idea that I will spend a lot of money on denim and then not be able to wear what I've made. THANK YOU for helping people like me! You are a true jewel.

You’re on a winning roll with your tutorials lately. You even put time stamps! This one will definitely come in handy in the future. You’ve inspired me to make a pair of jeans, which i haven’t done for at least 10 years. So if hubs asks about even more fabric, i’ll blame you 😝

Kristina, You truly are a Sewing Super Star!! I am amazed at how expert you are at sewing jeans for everyone in your family, men and women. They all turned out superbly, the fit was great, the details were finished to perfection, and you went the 2nd mile by adding some classy, understated interest and design by using attractive & fun lining to the jean pockets and waist facing. Just loved it all. I am starting a health routine and have imagined buying a great pair of jeans to celebrate my victories. Now I know I will be sewing my jeans. I just love that idea and it provides added incentive to stick to my goals. Thank you greatly! 🏆👏 You are a wonderfully gifted, incredibly dedicated and talented professional in all that you do as pertains to your Channel. I admire you greatly and am delighted in the joy and happiness that you experience along the way. Sincerely, Anita

You have inspired me to try making jeans! I just bought the Legato pattern (using your link and discount code) and am excited to get some fabric and begin sewing!! I’m tallish (5’9”) and have a difficult time finding jeans long enough. Making my own jeans will be a game changer! I’m going to review your videos on measuring and fitting pants first. Thanks, Karina!! Your videos are fantastic.

So good to see you Karina! Excellent video! ❤️. I finished my first sort of jeans, the free Peppermint pattern Wide Leg pants. I made them as a wearable muslin in some inexpensive twill. I aced the zipper, but the waistband was a nightmare! It just wouldn’t cooperate and seemed the wrong size for the yoke. I cut a new one out double checking the size and made extra sure I was measuring the pattern grainline to the fabric grainline correctly. That didn’t work, same results so at some point I searched the internet and found others with similar problems. I ended up drafting and using a totally new waistband from a tutorial on YT and it worked! I did decrease the size of the legs, they are really wide. I learned a lot, stretched my skills and I’m looking forward to sewing them again, and the new LN jeans! Your video here is just so good, as usual. Thanks so much for all the inspiration and teaching you provide. Take care.

@LiftingPinsandNeedles Жыл бұрын
Well if you tuck in then I agree. Also if you need a belt for function. But I never ever ever tuck in and don’t need a belt to keep them up…. so I don’t see the point in sewing features I don’t need or won’t even be seen. I’m all about being practical and make things custom to my needs :)

No I don’t. The tools available are all different so I don’t think it’s helpful to film mine because it’s too specific.

Hi Karina, thankyou for your video. Could you compare the style lines of the Dawn and Mountain view jeans? I’m particularly interested in the upper thigh area, as this is an area that causes problems for me when buying jeans as I have chunkier thighs than the average size 14 person. I am tempted by the Itch to Stitch jeans but wonder if they are designed for a “straighter” or less curvy leg shape? My body shape is pear\ hourglass.
@LiftingPinsandNeedles2 жыл бұрын
The Mountain View and Dawn are not really comparable because the Mountain View is pull up and meant to be sewn with very stretchy denim and the Dawn jeans are designed for zero stretch denim. The mountain view would have more ease and comfort due to the stretch denim.

When the pocket facing goes all the way to the zipper, it never comes up out of the zipper, or bunches up. It is a nicer, neater look.

Thank you for another great video! I will be looking for these presser feet!! I know you don't take on specific topics from viewers but having hemmed many pair of jeans, I know how hard it is on the sewing machine. Do you use an industrial strength sewing machine or just a standard home sewing one? Many thanks.!

I use a regular home sewing machine. My Janome is strong but I have had issues with Brother and Toyota in the past when trying to sew layers.

Most people will need to adjust a pattern. They are never custom made so yes, often and it’s expected.
