Old VHS videotape (released in 1984) about using & programming the popular ZX Spectrum personal computer.

2. Run the video tape to the appropiate program "transfer" shown on your video tape and freeze frame.
3. Start your tape recorder
4. Start your video recorder and record the program onto a blank computer casette.
5. Switch off the casette recorder when the video-tape diagram and high pitched tone stop.

By the time, if my father had offered me a zx spectrum instead of some weirdo 'Sharp' system, my life would be 300% different, today, as i would have learned how to program it, and because i already loved the games that were being made for the system, like paperboy, jet bike simulators, sirfred, etc etc, i would have wanted to learn how to make those games. . Crazy, like a tiny little thing has the power to completely change a life.

I got my + 2 in 1988', it's only in 2019 that I learned how to program it.

I've written a game that has a side view of a football pitch, so it is a trapezium shape. How can I 'colour in' the pitch?

Why do the line numbers go to about 60 to 80 then the data commands start at 1000 am i right thinking tht you leave a huge gap incase you want to admore data statements

dead right RAB, its a good idea to leave space for new statements. you might be surprised how much fun tinkering on the old 48k still is. sure computer have improved but its like comparing a lotus 1 to a modern Audi, give me the lotus one.

He can use the data later on to do a merge with a new program.

Exactly. And yet the language is badly designed, so no wonder it died out.

@@adg1355 Lol, The Spectrum was one of the longest lived machines of all time. It died because it got old, nothing to do with the BASIC language included. Assembler was always available as well, for people wanting more control.

And is also the same reasoning why the lines step up in Tens; 10, 20, 30, etc. It allows you to go back and amend the listing without changing numbers. You can go back and insert a line at 25 for example, or insert a number of lines at 31, 32, 33, 34, 35 etc Going up in Tens is a convention, there is nothing stopping you using your own numbering system, the computer does not force you to go up in Tens. If you wanted to start at 1, 2, 3, 4 then you can. But you'll soon have problems!

This would've been somewhat more impressive if, say, the various foods were to be selected from a list...
