I am reminded of things I wanted to be conscious of in my own playing, having the masterclasses recorded is great!

Nice to hear and thanks for reaching out! I haven’t gotten a lot of feedback so I’ve been on the fence about posting more. I’ll definitely be giving another couple a try at least.

I would love to see more! What I found particularly useful about this video is that most of the pieces the students played are around my level (I'm an adult learner), so I can immediately apply Melissa's advice to my own playing. And of course, the fact that the masterclass is recorded means I can always go back to it whenever I need help with a particular piece. I'm always happy to learn new ways to make the pieces I'm playing sound more musical, emotional and expressive. I do have an awesome teacher, but we tend to go through our lessons at a fast pace, and sometimes I don't get to polish the things I'm learning to a level that I personally find satisfying, so I really appreciate having lessons like these available online, for some extra guidance. Thank you again for posting this! 😊

it`s actually hard for me to understand the truly meaning of showing someone`s lesson, it`s very nice to listen to them (rly loved her playing), and i actually already watched vids like this before but can`t understand how it can help me-newbee to become better. Please explain where should i pay my attention on? Thx for ur videos, they are really helpful.

Yeah I can understand the confusion particularly if you’re early on in your journey. A master class provides a different kind of learning experience than a private lesson. When receiving private instruction, you are generally focused on a lot of things. You’re trying to perform, adjust some aspect of your playing, and you also often have some element of nerves involved. When watching someone else receive instruction, you can let go of some of that baggage and see with the eyes of an outsider how the information is changing the playing of the student. You can gain insights from this in a less stressful environment and then apply the lessons learned in the practice room. My favorite principle that I learned from a master class was figure 8 motion which is integral to how I teach tone production now.
