I've seen them used for installation of beams in the uk 🇬🇧, most time though site requires and i-bolt going through a pre drilled hole that has a small o- ring to attach a wire or chain.

That crane driver looks stoned out of it 🤣
@collinswekesa2 жыл бұрын
No worker should be under the beam when being lifted by the crane. I see people under the beam while being lifted by thr crane.

I wonder how much a hour they are paid, Local 361 would have put that building up in about a week, at most!!!
@mishroeder94902 жыл бұрын
Would of been cheaper to use a lull to lift the columns instead of the crane.

At 1:45 in this video... i would never use a beam clamp to hook on and erect steel... any other opinions/thoughts?
@jordanmartinez82874 ай бұрын
I understand but some GCs require this. I’m on a job for Turner construction where they insisted we use beam clamp vs nylon straps.

@matthewjdouglas6471 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, there's more than 100 pieces in that job. I don't think that new what he was talking about.

I am an active Union Ironworker and I do not approve of this video. These are far from "expert craftsman", and I have no intention and talking bad about them. Unsafe work practices from start to finish.
@danewing46583 жыл бұрын
I agree 1,000,000% as I am a Local 40 Ironworker and I couldnt watch the whole video. These guys are CLOWNS. This is in 361 territory and they are clearly non union SCABS. 361 basically let all the same jobs go RAT, they were too focused on manning the bridges and the airports. In return the scabs do all these little jobs.
@danewing46583 жыл бұрын
@Allison Edwards I agree you are right, they are just trying to feed their families.

Pet peeves- Steelworkers make the steel, "Ironworkers" erect and assemble the steel. Or, Steelworkers trip, Ironworkers fall. Vertical steel pieces are "columns" generally in an "H" shape, horizontal pieces are "beams" and generally in an "I" shape ("I beams"). OSHA seems to target Union jobs looking for every safety violation, whereas this is clearly an overlooked "here today- gone before being caught", tons of violations non-union job. Really embarrassing to see the lack of speed, safety and craftsmanship. I don't like trashing guys trying to feed their families, but would rather see them work Union and get better wages, training, health and retirement benefits, etc. From a retired Union Ironworker, Local 36 (before assimilated into NJ/ Philadelphia Locals), PA.

No toe boards around the floor openings, cables should have some caution flags, elevator hole needs a better barricade, crane operator is wearing a baseball cap, and some missing safety glasses. What else? Power line was a little too close for my comfort but not sure its a violation
