Great timing for me. Was just struggling with this from the keys perspective on Great are you Lord.

Ok I’ve noticed this BPM difference in 6/8 tracks before but never really understood why. This is a great explanation. Thank you

I’m glad it was helpful! Yes, I had to consult one of my music directors who has a masters in music to break it down for me.

Thanks for sharing! I’ve only been strumming rhythm for 6/8. This will help me explore the dotted 1/8th in lead style easier!

I have a tc electronic flashback mini, and it doesn’t let you set subdivisions, you just whack the strings at the tempo you want the returns to be. It works though!
@AllAboutWorshipGuitarКүн бұрын
Yes I had that too, and for 6/8 it was to hit the strings on 1-3-5!

2/4 cut time, 4/4 time or 6/8 time. Each tempo is different speed.
@AllAboutWorshipGuitarКүн бұрын
Haha, as I mentioned in the video, there’s a whole lot of debate over what sounds and feels right as a tempo marking for 6/8.

Either tap every other beat or set it to dotted quarter
@AllAboutWorshipGuitar3 күн бұрын
Indeed! The tapping of every other beat (1, 3, 5) works because most pedals assume a quarter note pulse.

using .1/8 delay for any 6/8 song, I tap tempo on beats 1,3,5....
@AllAboutWorshipGuitarКүн бұрын
Indeed! That is the trick for most delay pedals. The problem is that if you’re starting a song in 6/8 and you don’t have time to tap in the tempo, you might have to pre-program it first.

What psycho put the 78 bpm!!!! It hurt my brain😂 I get why it works for the dotted eight delay but it should not be what the band is hearing in their ears
@AllAboutWorshipGuitar3 күн бұрын
I used to be in a band with a drummer who preferred the 1/4 note pulse over 6/8 (emphasizing the 1, 3, 5). It helps with off-beat accents. Like you said, there's some brain hurt but after a while it's ok! Also, changing the metronome click to 1/8th notes instead of 1/4 notes at 78bpm "converts" to 156bpm.

Musically 6/8 should be accenting 1 3 5 Musically 3/4 is accenting the 1 in waltz style. Am I correct?
@AllAboutWorshipGuitar2 күн бұрын
This is the part I left out of the video (the debate as to what is considered correct). 6/8 groove should feel like there are two strong notes. The downbeat is felt on the 1 and 4. But the metronome can click in three different ways to help you feel that groove. I personally prefer the “slow” tempo marking so the metronome clicks in dotted quarters (1-4).
@olovstenlund5022 күн бұрын
Moving the feel between three and four is the best thing about 6/8! Viz kzbin.info/www/bejne/onatqGlqj9Flbrcsi=ozGx-ezLWCaqIQIc before and after 2:20 for instance, but several times throughout. Ideally everyone involved has both three and four going internally all the time, and just choose when to emphasize which.
@piersonwong9282Күн бұрын
@@jeremygoff9868 for 6/8 your accents should be on the 1 and 4
@UnoDelDIM2 күн бұрын
How about use you ears! If you actually practice tempos you can set your delay to 8ths and just tap the right tempos. My biggest advise is learn to tap dotted 8th and thirds. Stop buying IRs and build your own tones and so on. Train you ear and practice. Stop buying tools that just hide lack of practice and spend time building your skill
@AllAboutWorshipGuitarКүн бұрын
That works too, to each his own. I'm a proponent of understanding the theory side of things, so my thought process goes towards characterising and breaking down the music. I'm in agreement with you on stopping the consumerist side of gear, no amount of gear isn't going to help you understand music!
