@@edwardv4546 I really want to learn alternate picking with great speed, soloing and learning how to determine if I need to play licks or chords within the solo and how to do both together, and playing chords and knowing which is best for the song

@@day1detail thank you for the compliment! I appreciate that. I can give you some quick pointers. I would start with the pentatonic scale for soloing. Practicing playing the main shape with different pattern variations. And then learn all 5 shapes and work on stringing them together. For alternate picking, I would start with playing only patterns that lead you into a downstroke when moving to the next string. For example, patterns of 6 starting with a downstroke. Get a hard pick (Jazz III) and always use a metronome. Chords are a whole different story lol. Copy triads from popular guitarists and make them your own.
