Excellent dog work, great backing, and retrieving! Leo looks great under pressure! A very solid bird dog! Love the videos! Looking forward to the ones coming up!

I bet your viewers would love for you guys to start a podcast. I know I would. Nothing like doing chores on a Saturday listening to hunting/bird dog content. Keep it up guys.

You have a great training area really helps when you’re working the dogs. How old are your dogs? They really look good. You’ve done a great job with them. I enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you! We really appreciate it. Leo just turned 3 yesterday. And I think Zeke is somewhere around 2.5 years old. Thank you for watching!

Very nice. Will you hold them to this standard while wild bird hunting?
@UplandBrothers5 ай бұрын
Thanks! We do not hold our dogs to this standard while wild bird hunting. We like for them to have fun and not be under this much pressure at all times. We do expect them to honor/back the other dogs, but we do not hunt them steady to the shot and fall.

At least you're being honest about it. Bugs me when people tell me their dogs are steady through the fall and I ask even on wild birds and they say yes. I always know they are full of it or just don't hunt that much. Its next to impossible to keep a dog steady through the fall on wild birds. You would have to train him on every bird while hunting and you could never hunt with someone else who dog that wasn't steady through the fall. I get it if you're doing it for a trial. I expect steady to wing and and even that is hard to monitor while wild bird hunting.@@UplandBrothers

Very impressive dog work! I am looking forward to more training content. How old are your dogs so that i can have an idea how much training you have put into them? I have 4 labs that I train and compete with almost every day.

Thank you! That is really cool! Leo was just under 3 years old when we recorded that video. And Zeke (my friend’s dog) I believe is about 2.5 years old. That’s typical really young to get them to this level. Most dogs get here around 4+ years of age. But is is certainly possible to do it earlier. We train and do hunt tests throughout the summer time.

Thank you for the quick response! I belong to 3 retriever clubs and could very easily put a master title on a Labrador by around 2 years old, too. Having said that, I have trained retrievers for many years and know precisely what to do. I will have to see if I can find a NAVDHA club around here and give them a visit. Keep the training videos coming! You guys are doing a great job. You'll have to check out my KZbin channel "The Retriever Nation".

@jeffbrezee4853 That would be really cool! You should join a Chapter and check it out! I love the labs! That’s cool! Subscribed! We’re going to start here soon with a couple of puppies that we will have this summer. Very excited! Both Lila and Leo have already tested at the highest level of NAVHDA. They both passed the invitational last year. So we have pups on the way where we will be starting from zero and doing a lot more training videos!

My pup is just under a year old He will point but will not back do you have any ideas to help getting him to back?
@UplandBrothers4 ай бұрын
Hey Clay! Sorry to back to you so late, it’s been hectic. Some dogs learn to back on their own by hunting them with other dogs often. They will pick up on their own that when another dog is on point, there is a bird. For some dogs, you have to teach them to back. It’s difficult to explain how to teach a dog to back on a short paragraph like this one, but maybe we could do a video on it in the future.I would recommend joining a local NAVDHA chapter, there is great people with great knowledge there that can help you and your dog learn.
