This is a cool and simple progression. I've been using hybrid picking for Fade to Black and Tom Sawyer for years. Haven't practiced it to get it much faster than I need for stuff like that, but I also saw Vinnie Vincent doing it for patterns that have several notes on one string and one occasional note on a higher string and he was pretty quick with it.

The "look ahead" thing for quick transitions is great advice. I learned that one back in the day of trying to pull of Eugene's Trick Bag with the octave jumps with the two string major arpeggio shape and the open high e. Also, it kind of happens naturally, but muting the second string is with the finger on the third string - if you play too much on the finger tip, and have the be string ringing, just relax the second finger to rest against the second string.

Thanks for the lesson and the tips, Uncle Ben. I've always had problems with hybrid picking because of the hand posture. I can play the classical guitar finger picking style and I can use that on electric guitars with no problem. But there the hand posture is quite different. The hybrid picking posture is too "flat" for me to use my middle (and ring) finger. So when it comes to hybrid picking, I suck. As I see you suggest "outstrokes" with the pick. That might solve my problem. I'll give it a try. Thanks a lot (for your previous outstrokes lesson too again).

I found the way to make hybrid a piece of cake is to devote time to learning fingerstyle, which is never bad. After that, hybrid os much easier.

What a great progression. I love your tutorials, but I work in intervals, so Id really love it if you could name the intervals when you work through your riff progressions rather than just the note names. It would also make it easier to remember the shapes for different keys and connotations in practical situations. The same for the relationship of the chords that form the basis of your awesome riffs so its easy for us viewers to learn the underlying "rules" without having to sit down with a sheet of paper (ie any minor root chord progression ascending from the 3rd and then descending using its 5th interval from its 5th???. Err nope lost it lol) 😆 Keep up the excellent work.
